Just wanted to talk about something that's not so serious for a minute. Today marks the first step towards my independence. I've been a federal employee for about a year now, and pedes it's so much worse than you can imagine. Even under Trump it's been non-stop human resource woke babble and sitting on ass doing nothing. I cannot fathom how much worse it's going to get under a potential Harris-Biden administration and I'm just not wired like that. I'm what I guess you would call a late bloomer. I did the military, then I did contract work in Afghanistan and then I went to college. In 15 years of marriage I've spent 8 years of it either deployed with the military or working for the military in a warzone.
To say that I don't fit into the little human resource mould of a model employee would be an understatement. It's time for me to start moving away from a job that I hate. So, I started a small side business today. Nothing fancy, just turning my hobbies into something that pays a little. I do a fair amount of woodworking, metalwork, and I'm fairly deep into all manner of CNC systems (I've been designing and building control systems for avionics programs, so CNC is my wheelhouse). I finished up a WuFlu project canoe and my neighbor bought it off me on sight. It's inspired me to see if I can make a go of it on my own. Keep slugging, see you guys on the other side.
Best of luck to you!
