We have more than 1.2-1.5 times the amount of food in the world right now than the people need for overconsumption. The problem is waste and storage/transportation.
If the earth heats up 1 degree we could effectively have way more aggregable land - increasing the world food supply.
Beyond just the standard "Muh Covid wrecking everything", Chyna had a massive drought and then catastrophic flooding. They flooded the farmlands to save the 3 gorges dam. This summer they made a record-breaking grain purchase, and then a few weeks later, another one. They have these huge silos of strategic reserve grains that are empty or are full of rotted grain because Chyna is asshoe and they cheat and scam each other and everyone else. Whenever the state comes to inspect the silos a number of them mysteriously go up in flames so the fraud won't be caught.
That's just Chyna, lots of places all over the world have had a rough go of it. The places that locked down have left their population without enough money to feed themselves.
Make sure you have some food put away. Right now we're living off the fat stores from the last few years but until we get back to normal it might go a bit lean.
