Funny that you bring up the French Revolution. Violence seems to have been the point in that one and it got out of hand. Yes the violence deposed their king but it kept going and became the problem.

Always have the real moral high ground. Always act defensively (that doesn't mean only strike after you've been struck). Try to stay within the law.

Practice non-violence tactics first. Study Ghandi's techniques.
