No, the Feds should never be able to levy taxes directly on you, that's unconstitutional. Our govt was supported entirely by tariffs until the Federal Reserve was established and the mil-industrial complex took hold. Before the Civil War we didn't have a standing army, that's the whole point of a militia, to avoid the danger to liberty from a standing army, but after the Civil War the union generals all wanted to stay employed as generals so we've had a standing army ever since and it just keeps bloating. That's why we have forever wars, because they need something to do.
