Theyre chinese christians trying to avoid prison and summary execution in china. They deserve all the support we can muster. Only left wing hippies and CCP apologists call them a cult.
I wouldn't call Falun Gong people Christian...but I totally get their push for religious freedom in Communist China. I support anyone against that evil empire.
I promise we are neither "expats" nor a cult. Many of us are not even Chinese. Some are Christians, though. Just as some are Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, etc. It's not a religion, it's a meditation practice and way of life.
You're wondering why the Scientology of buddhism would have a reason to lie to you? They are persecuted and hunted for their organs, they have every reason to lie and hyperbole negative CCP information. Doesn't mean they always do it.
