Actual lawyer perspective. Courts were never set up to do phone and/or video conferences with large groups like this. This happens all of the time now with COVID restrictions and use of calling systems. Somd courts better than others. Nothing to read into the call going bad. Just stop reaching on that front. Nothing there.

Actual developer perspective, AT&T has the insight, and resources, to have made sure there were adequate resources to give this call priority.

Part of the move to cloud computing is because of the demands put on us to make sure hardware resources are scalable for short burts of traffic (think things like the grammies that only happen once a year).

There's very little excuse for Mom Bell to be technically incompetent in such a high profile situation.

I am on conference calls off and on everyday for work and this NEVER happens. Ever. At worst someone will accidentally leave their phone off mute. This is bullshit to the highest degree. If they dismiss the case without letting the Press or Public hear the case we can only assume it's more fraud.

Certainly not for over 8,000 callers logging in.

Which is what happened here.

I don't think even the federal courthouse in Philly could handle that volume. This is a backwater federal district courthouse. They simply are not wired for that kind of volume. The court's staff should have known this was coming.
