all true. the problem is we (thankfully) have a lot of new pedes who do not understand. we need to educate them, and frankly it would be helpful to have a page with some basic lingo defined or some things laid out about the site culture.... would help
It isn't even this site causing all of this. We have Sydney talking about Krakens, Giuliani is promising big stuff, and Scott Adams is going to change our reality. Also there's OANN talking about German servers and 410 electoral votes.
Overpromising and underdelivering is very demoralizing.
What a lot of people, who apparently don't spend much time around here, don't seem to understand is that we get all of our nuggets of truth by sifting through mountains of bullshit.... If we never shifted through mountains of bullshit, we wouldn't have found all the shit we have found that is absolutely real....
I take it a lot of people around here haven't spent a lot of time on message boards, but a shitload of us have.... What seems insane to all of you just simply how this shit works to the rest of us. It's how digging has always worked....
Instead of sitting around and bitching about it, we try to follow threads as much as we can and correct as much bullshit as possible to inform people.... But sitting around bitching about how similar boards have always operated is pretty ridiculous...

Oh yeah, as much as I love this site, we're as much of an echo-chamber as anywhere else. A lot of folks are also on edge right now, so that doesn't help things either. Sometimes, you just need to take a break from politics for a couple of hours a day at least, I know I need too sometimes...

It's not about negativity. People need to verify things before upvoting them and spreading it around as fact. Not doing so only discredits our side. I understand we're all tense and excitable, but we need to have standards.
