Fuck covid. Fuck our government for not protecting us from such grotesque forms of unconstitutional government overreach. America as an idea and as what it once was is still very important to me. But this is not that country for the time being. This country, whatever the fuck it is, is not very much to my liking. Almost everything that made it special has been sullied. It's now just another corrupt, irresponsible, unaccountable embarrassment of a country, in which the government mostly just does terrible shit to the citizens and enriches themselves to our detriment.

Really hope you're right. I'd like to see a bit of kraken at some point, instead of just hearing about it. They say kraken this day, the day comes, no kraken. Can only go on for so long.
Our neighbors are moving to South Dakota (from Cali) in JANUARY for this very reason. As soon as “digital school” breaks for the semester, they are out of here. Already bought a house and everything. Oh, and one of them is a medical doctor.
For some time I've said, "I want my America back." Then I realized my America is still here, just not in the big cities that swing the states' votes. So I'm planning a visit to deep red Wyoming (ignoring Jackson Hole), flying into Casper, renting a car, and driving a loop to Cody and back, visiting and talking with the local inhabitants wherever I have a chance. Just thinking about it, just planning it is a healthful occupation.
