My take on it was that he was in a very precarious situation... The rino's were waiting for him to do something they could point to in order to kick him out of office. The vast majority of everyone in dc in the early days was not on our side... I was very worried early on, he had to control the situation, too much too fast would have been fatal. He was too green in politics to replace them with anyone. He had to have some blind trust. Unfortunately it did not work out with some of these swamp creatures.
The stuff the gets me is how the swamp has guys that are “in line” for stuff even if it makes no sense. Like the GOP lost a senate seat in Alabama for 2 years because of the Jeff Sessions appointment which we all pretty much knew was going to be a joke anyway. And that’s just the one example I can think of off the top of my head. Man, 2016 seems so long ago sometimes...
It's easy to have things "in line" when everyone involved is on the same side. Losing the House in 2018 was bad, but on the bright side it got rid of a lot of backstabbers.
