I was planning a late night sanding cars last night, so I stopped into the grocery store for creamer, and I was the only one in the store without a mask. I started to go down an aisle and saw there was a woman there, so I moved on to go down an unattended aisle. I did a double take when I realized not only was she NOT wearing a mask, but the man she was with was at the other end of the aisle also not wearing a mask.
I walked down their aisle. I said hello to the woman as I passed, and the man was standing at the end of the aisle. He looked a bit gruff. I smiled and said, "It's sure nice to see people's faces at the grocery store, isn't it?" His face lit up with a shit-eating grin to match mine, and he said, "Yes. Yes it is."
Sorry to all the "just defy the orders" people but some of us cant afford to get fines, go to jail or lose our jobs if we go to jail or get outed publicly in some name and shame campaign by the governor that reflects badly on our employers. We don't want to wear masks but FFS STFU about us "being like the sheep who willingly comply" SOME OF US LITERALLY HAVE NO CHOICE, our local authorities are perfectly willing to ruin our lives to get compliance
I get what you're saying, but "being strong" doesn't pay my mortgage or put food on the table. I'm not so much worried about government fuckery, but if a coworker sees me in a store without a mask and reports me to company HR (since the company put out a boatload of rules we are expected to follow outside of work), I lose my job. I could probably last two or three months at this point before I'd be homeless.
While I look for other work, and I have been, I still need an income. I'd imagine u/sustainable_saltmine might be in the same boat.
True. No,absolutes. I am frustrated at the people who can choose not to and still do. The sheepdog is frequently frustrated with the sheep but that doesn’t change his purpose
We'll said.
I work with the deveoplmentally disabled.
They can't tell me if they're not feeling well.
I wear a mask for their safety, not mine. Let's practice grace
Yup! Even better, I obtained multiple job offers squarely within six digits during quarantine and economic shutdown.
Motivated people with noble reasons to do what they think is good work is a strong cover letter and interview indicator which many employers want in their teams.
Lot of folks on this site are in the Midwest and find 65k a huge salary. Many more are students, and a surprising number are housewives, but I'll take the compliment.
Did you see the recent study posted yesterday about the marines? Masks dont work

I'm still happy about that interaction.

Then it is time to move. Really. You want to live like that?

I work with a lot of old people and my work is to help others, especially those who actually have reason to fear this virus.
Only a Retard deals in Absolutes.

I sound like a person who was lucky enough to be good at and find employment in his desired profession.

Perhaps, though I'd doubt your statement.
