They just had a public Zoom meeting. 300+ angry Democrats showed up and were screeching and yelling, calling them racist for disenfranchising black voters.
I was in line to speak, but heavily outnumbered, and wasn't able to make it.
No one spoke for our side in defense of the decision.
Right after, they caved.
I live in a place where republicans have little chance of ever winning. I vote for them, even though I know they have no chance. I have to think that even they know they have no chance. There are lots of local races where the only choice is a Democrat running unopposed... or 2 dems running against each other.
What those republicans or rinos in red states need is to be in a position where they know they have no chance. Those mink handcuffs are comfy and I think they are ok with their position as long as they still get to go to the statehouse, or to DC and play at being legitimate opposition.
We need a new party. I’m still a registered Democrat... because that’s what I was when I was young and naive... and now because if I changed to republican I worry that I and my family would be vilified by the oh so “tolerant” people that surround me.
I’ve got only a year and a half before I can leave this place... there was a time I was looking forward to moving to a different area and registering as a republican. I’m still looking forward to leaving, but if the GOP allows this disaster to happen I’ll never vote for anyone with an R next to their name again.
I know what it feels like and am not registered as a republican on purpose as well. I vote every election in California knowing at least I can make a difference on the propositions but the new republicans that run don’t have a chance because so many people here don’t do the research. It usually ends up 3 or 4 democrats fighting on one ticket and the guy with more advertising wins.
