The only thing that should connect to the internet is a dumb device. And by that I mean a device that has no gps, microphone, or any other form of passive input.
Example: My Roku. It allows me to cut the cord, watch TV, and cannot possibly track me any more than my cable box could have.
Example: My Nest smoke detectors. They allow me to create a unified alarm system across three floors of my home. It communicates with other alarms in the system - and has no other way to collect data.
Opposite example: Alexa. It’s main purpose is to sit in your home and listen to everything you say. It then stores “short clips” of what you’ve said to improve performance (yeah right.)
Opposite example: Cameras that people place inside their homes. Are you people kidding?
Don’t connect shit in your house to the Internet except a compute and actively protect that or you get what get you lazy fucks
