We haven't had an actual 2 party system since sometime around gerald Ford. Reagan was an anomaly, in a time when voter fraud was a lot harder than it is now and the information stream was more open. Trump was and is another anomaly.
The very fact Trump has managed to get as much done as he has is a flipping miracle. ALL of them want things back to "normal", from THEIR POINT OF VIEW.
THIS is why the founders did not want a large, powerful federal government. And why they crafted our constitution so very carefully to prevent it. But they didn't count on the media climbing in bed with that government, and they didn't count on communists. I can't fault them for not seeing those 2 threats, because they lived in a time when such threats weren't even in the wildest nightmares.
