We didn't know what the virus was, we were all scared. Everything got shut down. My son's therapy was cancelled, replaced by worthless zoom meetings. We will never get that time back. Now he is scheduled to start therapy in January, and with a heavy heart, I know it won't happen.
My son's future and development is being dictated by career politicians looking to make political gains. People don't understand how badly this is affecting families. Example: Your kid is obsessed with a fidget.
ABA therapy will take the fidget away from your kid and give it back to him as a reward when he demonstrates good behavior.
In the occupational therapy DIR floortime model, they figure out why your kid is obsessed with the fidget. Is it the color? The sound? The feel? The texture? They then use that information to help you better understand what makes your kid tick.
Also, any half wit can get certified in ABA therapy, you don’t even need a college degree.
P.S. my wife has her doctorate in occupational therapy and runs a clinic for children with autism. Sadly, we’ve experienced so many firsthand stories about normal functioning, developing babies who completely digress after getting vaccines.
theres definitely a genetic predisposition from what research can tell. Boys tend to have higher rates of autism, some suggest because their blood brain barrier takes longer to develop than girls.

honestly the best thing you can do it just eat a balanced diet and cut shit like soybean oil (literal poison and its in EVERYTHING) and canola oil out of your diet as well as artificial sweeteners. Aspartame really fucks with your gut.. For an extra boost I take probiotic pills about 50 billion cfu every couple days. If the store bought stuff says live/active culture should still have some benefits.
The difference in the apparent rates of autism in boys versus girls has more to do with the diagnostics used. Boys display autism differently than girls. If you look at autistic adults (which no one does because of leftist politics) you will see far less difference. Female autists are less likely to be non-communicative than males. They also don't meltdown as much. Shutdowns are not often recognized and if they are, not as a symptom of autism. That doesn't make them any less autistic. I know a lot of autistic ladies. Most weren't identified as sutch untill high school or later.
Their is a lot of ongoing research being conducted on this topic. Much by researchers who are themselves autistic.
I was vaccinated until about middle school, so I received all the shots. My mom however stopped vaccinating and my last 2 siblings are 18 and 16 and super healthy.
The tetanus shot is a joke. Tetanus is super rare and newer research shows the vaccine does close to nothing in preventing it.
Anyone can get tetanus doing just about anything. Rusty/puncture wounds being the main source of transmission is a myth. More likely to get it gardening from touching dirt etc... still extremely rare
I'm autistic. I'm lucky that I'm able to communicate though I didn't start to speak until I was well past my third birthday. I was never identified as autistic because in my day things were not well understood and Freudian nuts were often in charge. When I was identified, my mom totally rejected the diagnosis. I'm 60 and never had any treatment. I'm lucky.
I've done a lot of research on top of a lifetime of trying to figure out why I'm so weird. One thing I have found out is that almost the entire autism support industry is controlled by leftist. We all know that leftist can't think beyond their preconceptions. Everyone needs to stay away from Autism Speaks. The don't want to help. They want autism to be political tool. Many so called therapies like ABA are cruel and cause PTSD. Taking away a child's fidget without understanding is criminal. Things like sensory integration therapies are much more valuble. When I hear what so called specialists are doing to children I just want to rage. It's like middle ages medical care.

You did nothing. Vaccines don't cause autism. The study that was done that started this idea was based on manufactured data. There is no difference between autism rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated children. Autism doesn't show up untill a child is one or two, and sometimes even latter. In my case I was over the age of two. The effected mental circuits are not active untill a child is past his first birthday. That's when the missing circuitry becomes apparent.
My wife studies autism for a living, has a doctorate in Occupational Therapy from USC, runs a clinic for children with autism, and respectfully disagrees with your statement.
In her research, there is a direct correlation between autism and individuals with certain predispositions.
We hear it from parents all too often. They had a normally developing kid, took him/her in for vaccines, and within DAYS (sometimes 48 hours) the kid gets sick, digresses, and ends up on the spectrum. It is beyond sad and horrifying.
Our child is not vaccinated and is perfectly healthy. People call us cuckoo and crazy. But when we ask them, “What goes in vaccines?” They have no idea.
To us, we think it is crazy that people will blindly and willingly inject poisonous diseases into newborns with underdeveloped immune system. What could go so wrong?

As an autistic autodidact, I'm not particularly impressed by college degrees. I have an IQ in the genius range, but that number fails to indicate my skills with mathematics. I'm a mathematics prodigy on steroids.
I started reading 3 months after I started talking. At the age of 4, I figured out that geometrically, infinity and negative infinity were the same point. In fourth grade during national testing, my math scores grouped with High School seniors. In 8th grade, I lazily completed the entire years worth of a "learn at your own pace" curriculum in three weeks. When I was 14, I started to study human cognition. This is also when I started to teach my brain to do tricks. I now know that I was using the same circuitry that autists use to make masks. One of the first tricks I taught my mind was the ability to watch myself think.
As a Freshman in High School, I taught myself first and second semester calculus because I was bored. That took two months with very little effort. I never had any particular interest in math. No one told me I was good at it or encouraged me. I'm very autistic and lived in my own world. Math never interested me. Living things did. That and social interactions and politics. I hate Marxism and the political left with a passion. I was born with a red pill in my mouth.
It wasn't until I was a Sophomore that I realized I was gifted in math and loved it. That happened when I learned geometry. Even then, I never studied math diligently. I was interested in too many other things. This is when I got interested in physics and cosmology. Standard math suddenly became very useful but everything I did was based on what I figured out and not by reading text books like I did to learn calculus. In my Senior year I layed the foundations for Afine Geometry and Clifford Algebras. I also discovered the Hodgson Star Operator. I did this out of my own head, by my own imagination. This is also when I got interested in information theory and stimulus response systems. I started studying the behavior of flies. I created something I called pulse rate logic. My intellectual theorization is now being supported by current research into the Giant Fiber of Dorsophila melanogaster.
After High School, instead of going to college and becoming a world class mathematician, I joined the military. One of my reasons was that I was anticipating the situation we are facing today. I felt that in the military, I would get the training I needed to deal with a Marxist take over of the US. I was right. This decision has a fortuitous side effect. The enemies of freedom don't know the math I now know, though I sort of doubt that anyone with a programmed in Marxist based epistemology could even understand most of it. Very few people known about my skills in math. That's a good thing.
During this time, I taught my mind how to set off a portion that can be programmed like a computer. Today I can read code and literally run it in my head. I also became aware of my use of masking and gained some conscious control of it. Masking is damn useful in the military.
While in the military, I put math aside for awhile but would work through an advanced math text out of boredom from time to time. Then when I was 20, I read "The Eternal Golden Braid" by Douglas Hoffstater. I thought he was a leftist and his conclusions were stupid. I returned to serious math, but this time, I totally left the mathematics reservation. I plunged deaply into the foundations of math. I didn't even start to refer to what I was doing as math until 2010! I created something like Category Theory but with a twist. I started studying evolutionary systems and communication theory. By the time I was 21, I had developed the foundations of what today would be called Computational Model Theory. I discovered some very powerful things. Some are related to human cognition. One of these that is rather important is the existence of a hardware based sensory firewalls and cognitive protection circuitry.
I'm now 60. I've gone well past the stuff I have mentioned. I have developed a robust theory of observation that is related to information theory. Quantum mechanics is embedded within this. Professionally, I'm a systems engineer with a specialization in test and measurement. Human cognition is just another system. I have created a very robust model of the evolution of human cognition. I know how a Turing Test would work and might be able to construct one. I know what autism is and why it is becoming more common. Btw, cognition involves the entire nervous system, not just the brain. Other then that, I will only talk about my latest stuff on a need to know basis or to my best friends who are all on the spectrum.
Enough of the math. Every single one of my friends have been somewhere on the spectrum. Some were geniuses, some were "retarded". During grade school, I had one of each. I met my uncle when I was 24. I had been told since I was little that he was retarded. When I met him, I ended up spending the whole day talking to him. He didn't talk very good so I listened very hard. It took a long time for him to get sentences out and his word usage and sentence structure were strange. My word usage and sentence structure is also aberrant if I'm not careful. He wasn't retarded at all. He was a mostly non-verbal autist! That evening, I asked my dad why everyone said my uncle was retarded when he thought just fine. My dad just smiled and shrugged his shoulders like I was now in on a secret. Btw, my dad was probably on the spectrum. He was the only person during my childhood who I could count on to listen to me and actually understand what I was trying to say.
I've probably done more research into autism than your wife. I've kind of have a critical reason to be doing this. I can also read and process 500 words a minute (used to be 1000, but my eyes are getting old). I can become an expert in any subject in less than a year.
Neurotypical people will never be able to understand autistic individuals, no matter how many degrees they have or the amount of research they have done. I have the math to prove this. The things that many experts write about us makes me so mad. Some of the so called treatments are nothing more than ignorant barbarism. They totally discount what autists are saying because that would show them to be frauds in lab coats. Add the fact that the leftists are involved to ensure that we will always be a disadvantaged group to be exploited on the one hand, and to ensure that they can learn how to brainwash us into leftist tools, just like they do with neurotypical children, on the other. Left alone, autists are always conservative. No wonder autists often have PTSD. Fortunately, some researchers are starting to listen to us and some of us are getting involved with research. I probably should myself. Things like your wifes OT and sensory integration therapy are hopeful signs. The best thing for neurotypical people to do is to just except us without trying to understand everything.
Autism is not caused by brain damage. It involves the entire nervous system being wired differently, not wrongly. And it involves the replacement of hardware solutions with flexible software solutions. For example, I'm a visually oriented autist. I'm very color and motion sensitive. My vision works nothing like yours. I can do things with my sight that you can't even conceive of and if I tried to explain it to you, most likely you wouldn't get it. The best I can do is to say that my vision works just like a cursorial carnivore with perfect color vision. I can scan a 15000 word document for a keyword faster than you can use the find function. Brain damage can't cause something like that. I have never met an autist that was brain damaged.
I am also driven to art and animation. I'm an amateur artist. When non artists look at a skillfully executed painting, they see a pretty picture. I see much more, details of color and balance, how the eye moves across it. I also love music. The music I like is just good music to me. I don't grok it like I do a painting. But starting a few years ago, I have been increasingly drawn to percussion. Eventually I decided that I need to learn to play the drums. Last year, I tried to listen to a bunch of music of all styles while air drumming. I soon found that I needed to listen with my whole body. I shut down my thoughts and air drumed one night for around three hours. I did the same thing the next two nights. All of a sudden, I started to 'see' the music. I started to understand what made it tick. I now, without trying, I hear music in the same way I look at a painting or watch animation. I'm 60 but I managed to reprogrammed my auditory senses. This is very significant. My model tells me what happened but I am still shocked by it. It is so unexpected. It is also wsy cool because all of my favorite music is now new to me and I can fall in love with it all over again.
I'm not a fan of a lot of things. That includes circumcision and unnecessary vaccinations. But I can state with absolute certainty that vaccinations do not cause autism. The numbers do not even come close to supporting that conclusion. I'm a frigging data analysis expert. All the "vaccines cause autism" narrative does is guilt trip parents and drives them to seek help that is ultimately harmful. It's a distraction that causes parents to view their autistic children as damaged and prevents them from seeing them as unique individuals. The anti vaccination movement has seized on this like a pit bull seizes a steak bone because it's the only narrative they have got that gets peoples attention. If vaccines are causing brain damage, that brain damage is not autism.
They come to my house, and it just seems that they are more about parental support. I don't see any effort towards my son. It's like they are just running out the clock to fill out their paperwork. It's not doing anything. He needs the one-on-one attention and therapy provided in a structured environment. It's just not possible now.
You're best bet is to educate yourselves. Become your son's therapists. Educating yourselves will also give you the knowledge to spot the frauds. Too many parents are taken in by treatment centers that do far more harm than good. They are ran by wackos. Stay away from Autism Speaks. They are little more than a Marxist vanguard made up of hard core leftists. Btw, its normal for autistic infants to act like neurotypical infants.
