I don’t understand the VPN thing, why’s it important ? And which one to use?

A VPN helps you stay hidden online. It helps to prevent websites and ISP's from tracking you online. It helps increase your anonymity and overall privavy. You can also access region-specific content/websites/streamjng sites, etc.

A VPN is how YouTube was initially caught suppressing search results. Turn the VPN off and search a phrase, nothing comes up or very little comes up. Turn a VPN on and set yourself to appear to be in another country and search the same phrase, boom. You get loads of results. These companies have been actively meddling in US elections for years this way.

Express VPN is a good one. Nord VPN isn't bad either. There ARE free VPN's that are good, but you will always get what you pay for. Spend a few dollars and you'll be glad you did.

Only downfall is they do tend to slow down your internet a tiny bit, but worth it.

Yep! Definitely the same, bud. You can set the VPN on individual devices. Routers and all.

PIA is pretty good from what I could see, too. I used them for a year and had no noticable difference in speed.

It acts like a P.O. box for your computer. All of your requests and responses go through whatever you set it up to do. As far as anyone else can tell, they're sending messages to Antarctica. They have no visibility beyond that, and no way of knowing that it just forwards your mail to your real address after it comes in there.
