Mods pick posts to sticky, they'll stick 'em for a little while, and then they take 'em down to make more room for stickies. They might sticky some important news, an especially spicy meme, livestreams, etc. They turn over fairly quick most of the time, it's good to keep an eye on the "Hot Tab" to stay on top of breaking stuffs.

The moderators put the stickies up and take them down. You didn't do anything.

But truth is that only mods sticky if they especially like your post
