The word democracy appears exactly zero times in the founding documents. That is for a reason.
The House of Representatives was the ONLY body to be filled by popular vote in the original Constitution. Beginning around 1900 the idea of Marxism was very much in vogue and THAT is when the word DEMOCRACY started to be associated with the Unites States. Less than two decades later, this sentiment resulted in the 17th Amendment that changed the Senate from being made up of APPOINTED Senators from each state (state legislatures usually chose them - it was up to each state) to having the Senate filled... by POPULAR vote.
That was when the wheels started to wobble badly.
Keep on using that word 'democracy' until we lose then Electoral College.
