The President has no authority to lockdown states or issue mask mandates. None.

Well 10th amendment powers fall to the states not the federal government

AnotherPedeInTheWall 21 points ago +21 / -0

Silly pede. Constitutions only work when your government follows them and the people make them follow them. Kamala administration won’t give two shits about the constitution.

This is how the Roman Republic became an autocracy

Starting in 133 BC, Roman politicians began breaking already established rules in, or making up entirely new rules to, the Roman Constitution.

They did it so often that in just over 100 years, the constitution became completely meaningless and thus the door was opened to autocratic rule.

They are granted extra authority in the event of a health crisis per the 10th amendment

The mandates and lockdowns violate the constitution, and are void.

Someday someone will actually challenge them

Only if their State Constitutions grant the power.

Technically is that is how the 10th amendment works. If the Constitution doesn't say it's Federal, then it's state and if the State constitution doesn't say it's not allowed then lawmakers can make a law or give the governor the powers to enact a decree to the same effect as if there was a law.

So yes governors in fact HAVE the power to impose upon the people mandates.... unless they violate state or federal constitutionally protected rights or the lawmakers pass a law forbidding the governor from doing so.

No it specifically says that states handle their own. The same way a Sherrif can tell a governor to bite his ass and not enforce a mandate.

The Republic system is very clever in that the people decide who affects them the most locally.

Yes which is why these orders when challenged are in most cases declared unconstitutional. Don't forget SCOTUS with Roberts swinging for the other team declared religious facilities could be forced to limit attendees if every other business also had limits.

Ikermagic 12 points ago +12 / -0

Nobody has the authority to lockdown states, the people were guaranteed a right to assembly in the first amendment.

He will.

My bet is South Dakota and Florida will be the 2 states that don't.

No way South Dakota will cave.

Already has. Spent 300 mil on contact tracing from a private company up in Rochester, NY. Tried to get the info out for a while as this news got memory holed real quick back in July.

He hasn't said anything about Biden, but he's saying no Texas lockdowns even as the Branch Covidians around the state are howling at the moon about it.

Exactly. Why are we entertaining the notion?

11
MAGA_4EVER 11 points ago +11 / -0

None of us think Biden will be president. Most of us believe that Biden will be in jail.

But a lot of patriots who aren't on TDW believe biden will be president. So for Desantis to come out and say this means a lot to them.

God forbid the cheater gets rigged in, this is the right call. The left has established the precedent that states can ignore executive orders (not that any of Trump's executive actions have been harmful for any state), so it makes sense to ignore a Biden executive order that could ruin your state.

4
pokeman 4 points ago +5 / -1

God I'm proud to be a native floridian! Fuck all you commies from New York and Commiefornia making this state try to go blue. Dude better get a second term and then head straight to president.

4
lifeisahologram 4 points ago +4 / -0

I appreciate governors saying they won’t institute these illegal mandates, but it’s no longer enough because all the cities are still run by commie faggots (Sioux Falls SD just voted for mask mandate) They must actively pass orders that recognize these mandates ILLEGAL.

Edit: the removal of penalties is not enough. I am in Florida now and never wear a mask. Things are still not back to normal. The mask mandates shadow over us and most comply simply because they don’t want to make waves. Florida Pedes can you honestly tell me you feel like things are back to normal? It’s only emboldened a few more to disregard, but most people are sheep. But their being a sheep isn’t an excuse for corrupt local mayors to issue illegal mandates.

6
deleted 6 points ago +6 / -0
3
lifeisahologram 3 points ago +3 / -0

I know but that still feels 50% of the way. The last half is outright making issuing such a mandate illegal in the first place. It’s the only way we will get back to normal.

Because as long as local areas can illegally mandate these orders, most people will wear masks because they don’t want to be the rebel or make waves against orders even if there is no financial penalty. And as long as most people wear masks, people will continue to buy into the lies that things are not normal. And as long as people feel that, we will continue to be controlled by it.

2
NobodyLikesSplatter 2 points ago +2 / -0

They’re so not normal in Tampa. Fucking masks. Fucking Karens everywhere giving you the look if you wear it like I do as a chin diaper. People running and biking by themselves-with masks on. “Errr ma gerrrd it’s in the aiiirrrrr!!! Runnn!!!!”

Fucking retards! It’s like the IQ level dropped 30 points since last March. So many bars and restaurants going out of business right and left. Lost my job. It’s ok for me, I’m in college but I liked it there and a bunch of people lost their jobs there.

My fucking neighbors with their Biden’s signs can go straight to hell but I see them every day on their own property wearing masks. On their own property with family?? They make their kids wear face shields. You see these kids lined up at the school bus stop looking like aliens. I keep banging my head. Cleaning my weapons.

Meanwhile in KY.....

Gov. Andy Beshear stated today in his daily press conference on COVID19 awareness that he will comply with any orders from President Elect Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. when asked about full state lockdowns....

"Yes I will do whatever is called of me to take care of my Democratic Party mast.... er I mean leaders. up to and including licking Joe's hairy ass if he requests" Beshear said after taking general questions from the globalist collective state-run media.

If you live in commie country move to Florida. Lakefront mansion can be bought for 600k.

3
pddx22 3 points ago +3 / -0

Maybe in LA!

LOL-that's Lower Alabama for any of ya'll nawtheners.

I haven't seen anything like that in the central region...

2
Adwest232323 2 points ago +2 / -0

Lake county, more than 10,000 lakes. Plenty of lakefront houses for that price. I guess mansion is subjective, but not too long ago there was beautiful 6 bedroom Spanish style newish construction house right on lakeshore drive in Clermont(which has inflated prices, especially lakeshore dr) for 600k. IMO it is mansion.

3
pddx22 3 points ago +3 / -0

Never could understand the whole Lake County name when Sinkhole Slew would have done just fine. Just kidding!

I'm closer to the West Coast, which still confounds my geographical sense. There are some real mansions (or cribs--in the vernacular) somewhere's north of your area; however, they're not going for those prices!

2
Shroudedf8 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm in Hernando...600k does buy some nice digs...more than I could ever afford, mostly in the 3500-4000sf range. Of course, 5 mill will buy this modest cottage on the water:

https://www.trulia.com/p/fl/spring-hill/1227-osowaw-blvd-spring-hill-fl-34607--2037225434

(I didn't even think there were any 5m homes in Hernando, lol.)

3
Shroudedf8 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lake county is good. I'm on the west coast, closer to the water. I used to have a small boat for fishing and really enjoy the Gulf. After spending 10 years in Central Florida, I really like being close to the Gulf. (Close is certainly relative...I'm about 20 minutes from the 'beach' in Hernando, and maybe an hour from really nice beaches in Clearwater and such.) I can't afford the waterfront real-estate, that's for sure! Edit: Pretty conservative here too, for the most part. I saw the occasional Joepedo sign, but were way outnumbered by the Trump yard signs and flags waving on trucks!

2
Ccjunque 2 points ago +2 / -0

West Coaster here too. Our beaches are award winning, and our lakes stayed open throughout the pandemic so boating was our escape from covid hell. Every county has its Karens, but I am not in Hillsborough County so it could be worse. I am SO very grateful to be in Florida under Gov. DeSantis, and thank our lucky freakin' stars EVERY DAY that we didn't end up with a meth head-orgy-addict. Imagine! We would totally be Michigan.

1
Shroudedf8 1 point ago +1 / -0

Hahaha! Yeah, we dodged a serious bullet by not electing that friggin nut job meth addict. I'm 100% with you on that. Hernando doesn't have a mask mandate, but Pasco does, at least for businesses. I had to drive a relative two days ago to the VA hospital in Tampa and it seems like Hillsborough is pretty cucked. They had temporary ER beds and the triage area in the freaking parking garage. It was disturbing.

2
Adwest232323 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s great, more than 10,000 lakes so plenty of lakefront properties. You can buy lakefront mansion for 5-600k, very strong conservative leaning here. Slow pace with plenty of stores, restaurants etc. Everyone is armed, what’s more to love. 45 minutes to an hour from Orlando and all the theme parks, most of south lake county can see Disney fireworks every night.
