If you actually lose a gun(that can be traced to you) and you think there is even a slight possibility of someone finding it, I'd advise reporting it. You dont want to be getting hemmed up because someone found your fishing Hi Point in the lake and knocked off a convenience store clerk with it. But if you are just "losing" them it's already too late so do whatever.
