Tell your boss no and let him fire you. Do not quit or you'll most likely lose out on any unemployment benefits.

Also do not give an ultimatum that lets them accept your resignation. Do not say anything along these lines "I can not work here if you make me install this app". That is a resignation.

Simply say "No".

So here’s the knife-edge:

I can use a touchpad at the entrance to enter my name and number, and answer the symptom check questions. Then the system texts me a temporary PIN that I input on a physical keypad.

All this while coworkers line up tapping their feet impatiently. Doing this daily is clearly not a reasonable option.

let them wait lol, not your fault they put in stupid system

Skogin [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

That’s my attitude, but this is so painfully stupid I don’t know if I can go along with it at all!

AZTrumpette1776 7 points ago +7 / -0

All this while everyone is spreading their germs via a TouchPad.

2
Skogin [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

And a separate keypad!

Skogin [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

WE DIDN’T HAVE ANY PHYSICAL CONTACT BEFORE! WE HAVE RFID CARDS AND THE DOORS ARE AUTOMATIC!

Let him fire you, sue for wrongful termination because it violates your constitutional liberties.

This is how you play this.

100%.

Just say no and DO NOT QUIT. Take a few months paid vacation after the dust settles.

The CRAZY thing about this is that the app is required to do daily symptom check and then give a temporary PIN. Then we are supposed to input the PIN on a common keypad at the entry... WE DIDN’T HAVE ANY PHYSICAL CONTACT BEFORE! WE HAVE RFID CARDS AND THE DOORS ARE AUTOMATIC!

Install it on a burner phone. Leave the phone in the men's room at a truck stop.

You'll never come off of quarantine again!

Who's your employer? China? A company that works for China like Google?

6
Skogin [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

Apparently yes.

2
crusadetiem 2 points ago +3 / -1

That’s awesome.

then keep it in a faraday cage or bag whenever you can.

AZTrumpette1776 3 points ago +3 / -0

Agree with McPurrs supply me with the phone cause this is my personal cell.

2

It may come to this in the short term.

In the long term, FU I’m out.

Your employer is a communist piece of shit who should die in the fires of hell.

4
Skogin [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

If that wasn’t clear before, it is now.

6
kogar 6 points ago +6 / -0

Let them set it up on a burner phone and leave it at the office

3
league_of_fail 3 points ago +3 / -0

Request work phone for required work app. Leave work phone in the office. Problem solved.

Or leave it in your car if you need to get into work with the 2FA code.

1
Skogin [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

But it’s a daily entry procedure.

2
league_of_fail 2 points ago +2 / -0

Leave it in your car :)

All they would see for tracking would be "at work," "commute," "at home."

1
stokinz 1 point ago +1 / -0

Leave it with your supervisor every day and force them to come give it to you each morning

6
1st_Covfefe 6 points ago +6 / -0

If the phone is work property than no big, if its your phone then you can refuse.

2
Skogin [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not a work phone. They are clearly trying to force access to our personal phones - visitors and employees. I’m in a Mexican stand-off.

2
Skogin [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Unfortunately, I would be up against a huge pile of corporate lawyers.

2
stoic_troll 2 points ago +2 / -0

Quit fucking cucking out and fight like your God damn future depends on it. Lawyer up and go to fucking court. For fuck sake you want a future at all you have to fight for it. Your God damn ancestors bled for this and you are worried about a court hearing. Fight NOW. It only gets harder from here.

1
Skogin [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree with your point, but I have no interest in working with these fuckers anymore.

Ask your children if they would like a digital implant or a big yellow star of David on their lapel before they take the next train ride. Then make the decision.

I like it, but already cooperate using 2-factor authentication on my phone.

But I’m telling them this is my hard line. Allow me to enter without involving any new apps on my phone.

To put that up on your burner phone and leave it at home

3
MissPede 3 points ago +3 / -0

Look at the "How it Works" page on the website. They have a social distancing alarm that causes the phone to vibrate if they get to close. SMH

6
Skogin [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

Word from coworkers that obediently downloaded the app: It is giving repeated error messages trying to force them to switch on bluetooth tracking!!! The company is telling us to ignore the messages!

SMH

2
Handypatriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Oops looks like you broke your phone ( on silent in your pocket)

2
el-y0y0s 2 points ago +2 / -0

Depends on what they require as proof that you use it and communicate the results.

  1. lie that you use it and maintain your job
    or
  2. Let your voice be heard first. Calmly, authoritatively, and convincingly with your company to opt out of the program. Could be a health privacy violation? or
  3. since no one in America understands debate, or difference of opinion any more, you can threaten a class action lawsuit.
    or
  4. Write a scathing letter to management and resign.

Supposedly have an option to input info and do the symptom check at the door with a TOUCHPAD (with a line of people behind tapping their feet), but that would not accept my employee credentials! I said ‘fuck this’ and walked out!

Postal 2 points ago +2 / -0

If they start contact tracing here in WA.... I'm getting a fake ID and loading up visa gift cards to pay for everything. Jay Inslee's office phone will be my cell. EDIT: DO NOT QUIT. Make them force you in that you don't wish to have your liberties intruded upon.

1
crusadetiem 1 point ago +2 / -1

You know you’ve got an old smart phone lying around. Put it on that, make it talk on work wifi if it needs to, and put it in a shoebox lined with lots of aluminum foil under your desk or in your locker or whatever.

Is there an expiration for the one time code?

1
Skogin [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

It’s a daily entry procedure.

You’re right, I do have old phones. However, I’m aggressively against conact tracing apps regardless of the device used. They are forcing me out of the shadows here.

1
crusadetiem 1 point ago +2 / -1

I’m sayinnnnnn. Use it to get in the door, leave it in a faraday cage the rest of the time. Then all they’ve got on you is when you came in.

it was an exaggeration for the joke... and ultimately you don't know that, much like you didn't know your employer would install spyware on your phone over a common cold virus that barely kills anyone under 60... in any case, allowing the later makes the former more likely
