Your ADHD is a deformation in your brain. It’s your responsibility to deal with that in a honest manner and to do your best to overcome your brain’s deformation so that you can live a happy life. As an example, this is exactly the same situation that anyone else with any other deficiency has a responsibility to deal with that deficiency in an honest manner; such as a blind man should never drive a car. A blind man who drives a car is failing to fulfill the responsibilities that he must fulfill in order to live a happy life given the deformation in his eyes. No blind man can ever expect to live a happy life if he fails to live up to that responsibility that he should never drive a car.

If you take offense at anything I wrote in that comment, then you are not fulfilling your responsibility! I said nothing that you should find offensive. Your ADHD mind tries to force you to think quickly and resist the ordinary urge that people have to take time to contemplate new information so that you can understand what point is being made. Resist that ADHD urge, take time to re-read my words. Your brain may be suffering from ADHD, but if you want to live a happy life, it is your responsibility to do your best to overcome that urge to move quickly by forcing yourself to take time to contemplate new information. I say that with love, brother.

If there are medications and therapies that can help with any brain injury, then they are to be welcomed as gifts from God to help us overcome these terrible afflictions.

After that preamble, to directly respond to you: if you re-read my words with an open mind, no matter how difficult that may be for an ADHD sufferer such as yourself, you will note, if you actually take time to contemplate and understand my words, that I never said anything against science or people who suffer from conditions such as yourself. In fact, you’ll notice that most of what I wrote about was regarding mental health in people with fully functional brains, because I specifically stated that.

Best of luck brother, but I urge you to return to the church. Your bible is really the best book you can learn from if you’re worried about how to live a healthy life free of depression and other meme mental health situations.

You spent three paragraphs in what can be boiled down to "just think happy thoughts and you'll be happy".

It doesn't work that way.

Also, don't lecture me about ADHD. I know full well how to leverage it, but because I do doesn't mean it just magically goes away. I have spent A LOT of time researching psychology (mostly because the brain is a rather intriguing device). And don't even begin to pretend to understand how I think - that's beyond offensive because you are just so far off the mark.

Actual mental health issues are far more common in the US than people want to believe they are, which is a huge contributing factor to homelessness. Also, the leftist idiots falsely claiming mental health issues aren't helping things. Neither are people like you that want to oversimplify and sweep it under the rug rather than drag the issue out into the light and see all of it's horror so that it can be dealt with properly.

Then again this entire thread is likely futile as...

"The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice." Proverbs 12:15 NIV

18 minutes between my post and your reply.

Did you even bother taking time to contemplate my urge for you to take time to contemplate?

If you took some time, you’d realize that I’m saying that ADHD is a real illness. But ADHD, and other illnesses of the brain, are completely different to what I’m speaking about.

Even the way you assert your knowledge implies that you’re not taking time to contemplate anything. You ‘researched’ the brain because you think it’s interesting. That’s great. But you obviously haven’t studied it properly or you’d not be acting like this because you’d understand my point. You’d probably also rattle off your hard-earned qualifications.

But research and study are to be encouraged, IMO. If the brain interests you, I recommend that you go to college to study neuroscience or psychology! If you’re concerned about costs, your local state schools will have your back (they provide top notch education, don’t believe the memes about them being inferior to ivy leagues!).

I’m a mechanical engineer. I understand science. I also understand bunk science. And there’s a bunch of bunk with regard to the ‘science’ of mental illness. [Again, not ADHD, I mean emotionally-based mental illnesses such as depression, homosexuality or transgenderism]. If you want to talk science, I’m your man. But I’m not gonna sit here and listen to anyone claim that science is infallible because it’s not. The entire point of science is that it’s inherently fallible. Because it’s man-made.

If you want to talk about our society’s treatment of mental health issues, ask yourself why the elites shit down all of the asylums? The people who’d ordinarily be there (for whatever reason, either they’re going through a temporary bad patch, or are legitimately incapable of functioning in society) are now walking our streets and expecting to have their opinions listened to. And expect the rest of us to defer to their political inclinations.

And finally dude, as a guy who’s clearly decades older than you, can I just encourage you to knock off the know-it-all accusatory tone. It makes you look dumb. It’s also infuriating to read. Try to take time, contemplate new information, take time to decide whether you really should be feeling anger, whether you should be so accusatory, just try to tease out what emotions a particular comment makes you feel, and whether it’s actually appropriate to feel that way. And try to stop putting words into people’s mouths too, that’s just bad form, ADHD or no ADHD.

As I said in every previous comment, all the best bro! Hopefully you do actually study one of those subjects, it’s great to hear about people with genuine interest studying topics they love!

When the second paragraph of your first post starts with:

Mental health is a lie.

And then I go on to demonstrate how it isn't, what am I supposed to think of your ramblings?

(Pulling ye olde college analogy here but) you are clearly a MechE trying to tell an EE how to design a board, when you don't know the first things about circuitry. Your behavior is far more damaging than the lefts because you ignore and mischaracterize problems. Did it ever occur to you that maybe homosexuality might be caused by a naturally occurring hormonal imbalance that is aggravated by what we eat? Your ignorance is great when you're throwing depression into the same boat as transgenderism because it shows you clearly do not have any psychological knowledge, yet opine about the subject as if your some great expert.

And I find it funny that you tout around faith.. and then when I actually point out that you have bad scripture knowledge... you stuff it in a box. Don't the lukewarm get spat out at judgement?

And how old do you think I am?

Haha ok ADHD guy! I already told you that ADHD isn’t a mental illness, it’s a physical issue with your brain.

As for hormonal imbalances caused by something you eat making homosexuality a thing. That’s a huge cope you’re spouting there. I love how you try to sound so scientifically literate and then you throw out shit like that.

Stick to your treatment dude. Your doctors gave you a plan, I’m sure. Please stick to it. Because from your performance in this thread, I’m concerned that you’re not.
