Keep at it, you'll be glad. :D I plan on reading it again after I complete my doctoral studies. I purchased the current Catholic Bible, as it contains not just the Books in the King James Bible, but also the Deuterocanonical books. I read these separately after I read the King James Version.

The more one reads the Bible, the more one understands it.

Awesome! Yeah it’s been great. Biggest thing I’ve learned so far is that Israel keeps falling away from God and He never abandons them. It’s beautiful.

I’ll have to check out the Catholic Bible as you said; I’m doing the KJV with study notes (it’s very helpful!). Thanks —

The new version of the Catholic Bible also has the explanatory notes. :D

I'll give you an example of how the Deuterocanonical books helps. There's a scene, in the New Testament, where Jesus is asked about a man who dies before he consummates his first marriage. The widow marries his younger brother (next older sibling) and the same thing happens... And so on until the seventh brother dies and she has no children with any of them.

The Old Testament goes over the part about the next older brother taking the older brother's widow as his wife and bearing children with her to be credited to the older brother.

The scenario where she goes through 7 brothers with all of them dying before they could impregnate her? In one of the Deuterocanonical books. There's another scene where a mother watches as her seven sons are killed, one by one, for refusing to eat meat that was roasted at the alter of an idol.

The part of God not giving up, that shows his enteral love and patience. As a matter of fact, "burning fires of hell" is a metaphor for a furnace. Even "hell" is used to purify the soul and to save the individual. God does not abandon anyone.

I've read the entire Bible more than once, and encourage others to do the same.
