Floats are strictly regulated by the city (up until a few years ago there was only 1 company allowed to make them). The streets the parades are on are high traffic streets that are shut down by the city for the parades. It won’t be physically possible to have walking krewes use the traditional routes.
Also, throws (aka beads and shit) are expensive af.
This is stupid and pisses off, but not enough that I’d go into the city to play in traffic and spend hundreds of dollars on junk to do it.
I think everyone should protest this decision with a March, with floats and throwing mardi gras beads to show our defiance against this decision.
