My medical system serves a population of about 300k people. This week we have about 5 COVID patients in ventilators system-wide, and maybe 60 in the hospital getting more basic levels of support.
This illness is real, but for the overwhelming majority it’s just a nuisance. People at risk should protect themselves, everybody else needs to get on with life. We simply cannot have a planet where we shut down everything for each new flu that comes along, the cure if much worse than the disease.
