Not a doomer, just thinking. I feel like there was a time where everybody wanted to preserve the system and the integrity of the nation even if it meant your side lost. (This may be a romantic view of the past)
I feel like portion of the population who just want their side to win "by any means necessary" is coming close ot equaling or outweighing the portion that view integrity as the goal.
Republicans belive in the system and most want to find fraud and rule breakers regardless of side. I feel like we ostracize any "republican" who violates the constitution or law. The other side won't.
Sorry if it's a bit rambley, but I'm curious to hear yalls opinions on this and if you think that may be the threshold that does us in.
i think it's basically another way to look at soft/hard men cycle.
People who care most about the system are people who remember or know what happens when the system breaks apart and conflicts start to get routinely resolved 'by any means necessary'
But because the system sort of worked for a while, too many people forgot why it's critical it keeps working.
I fear the only way out of this for US is to get into a very bloody and messy internal conflict - simply because at this point I do not see a possibility of any middle ground or reconciliation with the opposition.
Yeah, I think it’s time to impose our will and not worry about other points of view. That’s where they are, and our system can’t work that way. Things change.
