It would make sense if the machine was marking ballots so they couldn’t be scanned twice but the dominion whistle blower said that ballots got rescanned.

JimmyNelson 25 points ago +25 / -0

Does the machine print a receipt?

17
deal_with_it_ [S] 17 points ago +17 / -0

That makes some sense at least but damn... everything is so shady.

Which would lead to the next question of how often does it print? At the end of the day? End of the hour (if so why are they displaying the results when polls are still open)? After every vote?

I just figured ink was some codeword for destroying democracy.

These ballot counting shenanigans can be curbed with two words..... SurveiIIance camera?!?!? Cuz they need those in the rooms. If covid is oh so much of a scary thing, I'm sure they wouldn't mind filming them count instead of having observers.

“Oh no we had a recording issue and lost the video”

Needs to have multiple safeguards in place, I’m tired of the convenient “issues” that happen. Cover all the bases. Poll watchers, equal representatives from both parties, hell have U.S marshals present while we’re at it.

Granted they’d claim muh voter suppression with so many ways to limit the cheating and that’d be what they run with. “Of course we lost, our voters felt unsafe.” Snakes.

StrongIsland 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was a poll worker in NY, we used paper ballots that were scanned into a machine and collected into a tray at the bottom of the machine. When the polls closed, we shut down our machines with a process that prints out 1 long tablature (imagine a cvs receipt) That’s the only item I saw printed out of the machine. The paper ballots are collected and removed from the machine, we then put the unused ballots into the machine bin and lock back up. We also remove the memory cards from the machines, we delivered all of our materials to the police dept and the school custodians removed three machines from the gym, I suppose the BOE picked the machines up overnight as school was open the next day.

It would likely be thermopaper. Heat activated receipts like at a cash register.

4
muslimporn 4 points ago +4 / -0

Receipts use thermal printers. You would only run out of paper. You usually get a pink mark to let you know when it's low. You can probably just go to wallmart and beg them for one of their rolls.

If they's using ink then that sounds dumb to me. Everyone know's ink is a scam. Maybe they mean toner at least but that still requires explanation.

Either way basic supply issues like this should never happen. When you ship the machine you supply ample extras and check off on a list to make sure it all ships. If people can't keep things together then they're not put together right.

PezzShivers 2 points ago +4 / -2

You only print the reciept out at the end of the night

2
Spawnlingman 2 points ago +2 / -0

In Maryland everyone got a receipt that voted in person put of the scanner.

But we are talking counting machines. Why would it run out of ink.

1
Tallsie 1 point ago +1 / -0

Take your receipt and heat it up on a stove top. If it turns black, then your receipt paper is thermal transfer paper, thus no ink. Same way store receipt systems work.

-1
PezzShivers -1 points ago +1 / -2

Do you not use paper ballots in Maryland?

Not to be a buzzkill, but the tabulators can also print the counts. Source: I did it myself working the polls.

8
deal_with_it_ [S] 8 points ago +9 / -1

How often are they printing counts? Why are they printing so frequently that it drains the machine? Wasn't the point of going all electronic with Dominion to avoid the paper to begin with? My head hurts.

4
username20 4 points ago +4 / -0

Usually once per turnover but it can be more often. Most counties probably see about 5 turnovers per day. The receipts are usually VERY long, like at least 4 feet.

13
PelosisPetrifiedPuss 13 points ago +13 / -0

So just a standard Walgreens receipt size

How was CVS able to master this technology before our board of elections?

8
jimmycrack 8 points ago +8 / -0

different type of printing. cvs and most receipts use a special type of paper, gets hit with a laser or some heat source which causes certain spots to turn black.

put a receipt next to a hot light bulb, or close to fire and the whole paper will turn black...pretty neat stuff.

2
independentbystander 2 points ago +2 / -0

True! That style of thermal-printer uses heat sensitive paper, and uses heat to make the tiny dots of "printing." If you leave a receipt in your car in summer heat, it will turn the paper dark.

>Also: you may notice receipts taped to food wrappers will turn dark (for example, if you order a burger with no onions and they stick the receipt to that one.) The chemicals used for this heat-sensitive paper are not good for you thus should not be used in this way, but then again fast-food isn't necessarily good for you either so they assume you aren't health-conscious.

2
jimmycrack 2 points ago +2 / -0

I worked in fast food years ago which is when I noticed this, thought it was neat.

3
username20 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lol, from my experience the election process is horribly inefficient. But that is to be expected when you let government handle anything.

Ink vs carbon paper

3
Xysten 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think this is the right question.

9
Roger-Q-Patriot 9 points ago +9 / -0

Dominion also makes Ballot Marking Machines.
Witness affidavits files in Michigan and Georgia by very experienced poll watchers testify that numerous ballots they saw were are machine-marked perfect circles, the paper was never creased and unwrinkled. Fuckers were printing them to-go!

tdwinner2020 6 points ago +6 / -0

Let's read that carefully.

the

vote

machines

ran

out

of

ink

Yo what?? Bruh, vote counting machines at most need to print out a number per-ballot box. They don't run out of ink doing that.

Hmm, hold on, someone's telling me something.

Ohhhh, they were PRINTING ballots to stuff the box with.

Can we find out how much ink they needed?

5
DaddySmooth 5 points ago +5 / -0

Because they think we're retarded. I seriously think the left was game-planning like it's a 100 years ago, as if internet never existed. If it wasn't so serious it would be comical. Talk about retarded!

5
Pr0xenus 5 points ago +5 / -0

It prints out Arcade tickets every time Biden gets 100 votes.

Exchange them for Wacky toys at the Counter near the door.

Ampman69 3 points ago +3 / -0

Also a great question. What store is open at 5a that sells "ink" for these machines??

3
Alphahorizon 3 points ago +3 / -0

It needs ink when it is filling "dots" on the blank ballets.

3
ChilledCovfefe 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think they stamp each ballot as counted so that would take a lot of ink. However I read that the machines could of course be hacked to bubble in blank ballots for a candidate. Machines should never be used for an election.

3
AntsCamera 3 points ago +3 / -0

Epstein should kill himself.

2
orange_dit 2 points ago +2 / -0

They should have enough ink to produce 10 times as much receipt as needed. So they counted more ballots than expected. Where did these ballots come from? Over 100% voter turnout?

JigglesV 2 points ago +2 / -0

Askin the right questions

1
Pederella 1 point ago +1 / -0

Machine I used gave a receipt with date/time/location. It was very small, less than 2x2, with thin font. Still....so much shady went on I trust nothing.

1
LugNuts 1 point ago +1 / -0

because it marks the ballots as read.

1
Kjnstkmn 1 point ago +1 / -0

Voting machine is a Ballot Marking Device https://streamable.com/qto2tp

1
Ivleeeg 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well because it's also creating paper ballots. It's not just a tabulating machine. But the pertinent question is why would it need ink after the polls close and why would that stop the reporting? IIRC, Wisconsin prohibits tabulation at a location until all ballots are cast. Meaning it wasn't just a long line working through while they were counting.

1
magnokor 1 point ago +1 / -0

Are these Dominion machines?

In the Dominion contract with Michigan, the representative from the Canadian voting machine company writes they use no ink, it is a thermal printer.

1
Hairy_Mouse 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't know what counted ballots look like. Do they get a mark (similar to a post mark or something) that shows they went through the machine? Or possibly the guy is just stupid?

Also, does he literally mean the COUNTING machine or is he meaning the a machine to MAKE your votes count. Because when I voted, the machine actually printed my ballot out. I never messed with the actual ballot other than handling it and inserting it in what I assumed was the scanning machine before leaving.

I'm not saying no funny business occurred, I certainly think it DID. I'm just saying this because I know some people filled out their ballots, when some are actually printed.

1
Homopratensis2 1 point ago +1 / -0

In Indiana the vote counting machine is electronic and prints a real time scroll of the vote in real time. The paper scroll is locked inside and you can see your vote recorded through a glass window. Seems like a solid system to me. I suppose it will need its ink refilled periodically as well as new paper scrolls loaded.

1
tremendous_trump2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

By "ink" he means "more ballots for Biden"

1
quigonkenny 1 point ago +1 / -0

Only reason I can think of is to mark which ballots have been counted. Which is actually a pretty good idea, since it could keep ballots from being run through the machine again and counted multiple times. That said, if that's the case then not only should it not run out of ink over such a period, since you'd only need a small indicator, but there should be no instances of recount ballots being pristine, like we're seeing in GA.

1
Licensetomeme 1 point ago +1 / -0

Because it doubles as a ballot counter and a ballot printer. What wonders!

1
Dirk_Diggler 1 point ago +1 / -0

Vote machine counting ink sounds like something you get the new guy to go get. It's usually on the shelf next to the turn signal fluid.
