Try not to use youtube. However, de-mainstream is really nice to block out all of those pesky prop to the top news sites.

Search on chrome web store, it is an extension. It can block any element on the page, super easy and effective.

Google must of given them money recently as within the last month or so you have to hit "Skip Ad" in Youtube videos where before I never saw any hint of ads EVER.
