My new friend and I already worked out my misinterpretation, but I still feel like I have to address something here:

Trump is the most transparent, vocal, and open President in our lifetime. As much propaganda as there is, Trump would hold multiple rallies a week, he debated Joe Biden in the open and did it well, he Tweets every hour, and he never misses an opportunity to speak somewhere. He also has a four year record of good policies and achievements to look at. As painful as it was, I watched every Democratic debate as well, and the freaking “Stop children what’s that sound” Democratic National Convention.

Anyone with even a passing interest in the future of this nation has so many opportunities to observe the truth for themselves, I can’t pity the uninformed voter. You can say CNN brainwashes people all you want. I used to watch CNN years ago. But we can never let people tell us what we are seeing. We always have to see it for myself. A 5-second clip of a Trump speech shouldn’t be satisfactory to determining a vote for anyone with a functioning brain.

In my previous engineering job, (the one I enjoyed the work in, but had to leave due to the toxic environment caused by me not partaking an anti-Trump circle-jerks,) I traveled somewhat regularly to four different countries on three different continents. However, these were all developed nations with European-standard “free speech.” I was not working in China though one of my liberal counterparts, who was actually an intelligent person (in an academic sense) did.

I did get the opportunity to work with an academic from Hong Kong and he was the most based person you could imagine. I wish we had him here.

However, I guess my exposure to the Hong Kong protests, the Iranian protests, and some others that got coverage elevated what I would normally expect from the citizenry under a totalitarian regime.

I go nuts when I think about people fleeing their, as Trump would say, “$$$$-holes” and then vote for policies that will turn us into one. I read the OP and thought “Oh my god you voted for Biden and now you’re going to warn me about Chinese influence on America? Too late now!” and vented out my frustration like a fool. So I apologize to you as well for having to see that garbage. I need a healthier avenue for stress relief.

Thank you friend. You are a hero to me as well. I was fortunate enough to have been made aware at a young age of what the news and their “official sources” were telling me. I had skepticism handed to me. You had to find it for yourself, which is all the more impressive.

You remind me of another one of my heroes, Thomas Sowell. He began as a full-blown Marxist, but in his journey for answers, was converted upon observing reality. That shows a powerful mind at work and I am very proud of you for having the same cunning.

We’re all doing well in this pandemic. I could really use a clear Trump victory right now, along with winning the respect of our rights back and rioters getting locked up, but I truly have so much to be grateful for. I have to remind myself to breathe and hope for a legitimate vote count. I hope you and yours are doing well despite the pandemic and lunacy in this nation.

I too hope that a second Trump term will galvanize the rule of law and the respect of our civil rights. If there has ever been a pivotal and tense moment in my life as an American, it’s right now, and it’s being painfully prolonged.
