I don't think the SC can ignore it even if they wanted. We have examples of states that clearly violated their own election laws, even judges orders, and that would be enough to win without even proving they faked a single ballot.
The SC wouldn't be deciding the election. The election has already been decided, and Trump has won. Their job is to merely make sure the election followed established laws. If those established laws being enforced, means a win for Trump, then it is impossible to characterize it as the SC deciding the president.
Not obligated, but it'd be pretty difficult to explain why they've denied it, especially since they readily heard Bush v. Gore. One has to keep in mind that the less avenue you give people to air grievances, you only push them to other ways. And with the overwhelming amount of evidence, not to mention the time limitations, the SC is pretty much the only place such a case can be brought and not take years to litigate. For them to say "Let the lower courts handle it", would be against the whole point of their existence. It would create a precedent that would come back to bite them in the ass at some point, and in big ways. Not to mention it would create a precedent that would allow people to characterize cases in certain ways that effectively make them invalid to go to the SC. The fact is, the SC can't escape this.
