TL;DR - It's time to be a wolf in sheeps clothing and force our friends and family to take a moderate position in response to our collective shift to the left (for argument sake only)
As we all know Left leaning progressives have been brain washed to think the way they do, and all of us on this board have family members who know to some extent what our beliefs are. And while we all get poked and shit talked to by friends and family from time to time, believe it or not it is BECAUSE you believe in conservative beliefs that most of them feel safe being on the fringe because they know that we will never stand for it. Almost like we are the fail safe for the ideas they KNOW are no good, but since they don't believe conservative will allow it to move forward they are safe to VIRTUE SIGNAL that they are progressive. Lets take that security away.
This Holiday season I dare you all to adopt (from a discussion stand point only) the progressive movement. Say you finally listened to them and have been watching MSM (CNN/MSNBC/ABC etc.) and you can't believe how much you have been lied to.
This will make everyone happy and excited to talk "Progressive Ideas" and this is where and when we strike.
WE MUST ADOPT A POSITION LEFT OF AOC AND THE FRINGE. When a family member brings up climate change, shame them for driving gas cars. When a family member talks about privilege, point out how they are not "DOING ENOUGH" and how you can't believe they would be so evil. Any time they claim they are "virtuous" deny them the victory and claim they don't "deserve" to claim they are better, and that claiming such things imposes "Colonial thinking" or any other made up Leftist talk.
The effect of this will be that your family will begin to see the "progressive" movement as dangerous (like it is) and will resent it ultimately because you took the positive reinforcement away from the Virtue Signal.
IF WE ALL DO THIS WE WILL RED PILL MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE.
In college I used to play games at parties with what we now call NPC liberals. I would wait for the loudest parrot to reveal themselves at the party spouting out all kinds of Leftist bull shit. The funny thing is that the NPC's can't use logic or reason so I could get them to follow trains of thought that most would reject as hyperbolic. For example I would get someone who was Pro-Abortion to adopt eugenic's positions for dealing with the mentally deficient. Once I got them to agree that "mentally retarded" people should be euthanized for the greater good, then I would expand the definition of mentally retarded to include those under a certain "IQ". We would negotiate what the threshold/cut-off point should be and usually it would be around IQ 80-90 (remember college kids think they are SUPER smart) at which point I would then get ANGRY and loudly profess that this person wants to kill most of Africa because they are too stupid and this is the definition of racism. You can imagine how people would react and then I would just leave the party and let the NPC squirm. Lots of fun, made some enemies for sure, but ultimately I opened more eyes than you can imagine.
