At first, I thought it was just a coicidence that people posted similar things, especially if it's something like a headline or quote. Then I realized that the usernames are the same. I'm certainly not alleging anything nefarious, and I figure with as much as we're growing things like that are bound to happen. I was just curious.

Old Reddit fags posting the same thing multiple times to harvest internet points that they believe are important.
Sometimes I repost to spread joy. I could care about my internet points, I want others to smile and laugh.
I always thought it was from delay before posts show and user crating the post a second time
I think it's a glitch that occurs when you browse and scroll forward and backward because the sorting of the posts is dynamic.
Aside from the actual problems that have already been pointed out below, sometimes it just means a user submitted a post and due to internet lag it appeared that it didn't get through so they try to post it again.
That's if you just see two identical posts in a row, though. If it's a lot of duplicates, it's practically guaranteed to be malicious links.
Sometimes, creating a post results in the user seeing raw JSON, even though the post was successful.
My guess, is that they re-post, to make a duplicate, before realising the original posted too.
So, we have a lot of volume here.
Think about a large river. You can post something you think is of value, and it can get buried in 100 posts (or even comments) within minutes and maybe a dozen people saw it.
Particularly if it's memes or videos you spent hours making.
So some people spam a comment or a post in an effort to get more eyes on it.
Thus reinforcing the problem.
Well, I usually wait until the next day.
