The below link should show you the current map according to the CDC, with the total number of reported cases as well as, most importantly, deaths. Just hover your mouse over whichever state you're in. The import number is deaths-per-100,000, which even in New York City (the hardest hit place in the nation) is only 287 deaths per 100,000. And the vast majority of those deaths are because of Governer Cuomo putting Covid-19 patients into nursing homes instead of into hospitals, which caused an estimated 25,000 deaths that were entirely preventable.

https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#cases_deathsper100k

For reference this was the last flu season (which they stopped tracking on April 4th 2020). Note the total deaths from the most recently tracked seasonal flu year is between 24,000-62,000

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm

Additionally, and this took some digging (I had to use duckduckgo, Google would not show me links to pages with the info I was looking for) I found this, which is the CDC breakdown on Covid deaths by by age category, where they died, and most importantly the co-morbidity charts. If you read through it all, and it is admittedly a long read, you will very quickly realize that Covid isn't very dangerous unless you already have a few existing health problems (ie: co-morbidities) or are 65+ where the death rate really starts picking up (but, again, that's mostly because of co-morbidities, not unexpected since old people generally have poorer health)

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm?fbclid=IwAR2-muRM3tB3uBdbTrmKwH1NdaBx6PpZo2kxotNwkUXlnbZXCwSRP2OmqsI#Comorbidities

. I highly encourage anyone that is interested in actual Covid numbers to look at the links I've provided, as these are ALL official CDC sources.

edit - Forgot to mention, the reason I included the Flu season stuff was so that you could compare it against Covid-19, at which point you quickly see that Covid is basically just a slightly worse Flu. And while I couldn't personally find any data on the SARS virus from the early 2000's to compare Covid-19 against, I'm virtually positive that SARS was actually much worse than Covid-19, and yet obviously we made our way through that just fine w/o needing the draconian lockdowns

Sweden never licked down, wide open! Also see the America’s front line doctors web site. These are doctors that have been treating covid patients and use hydroxy chloroquine.

God bless you, pastor. I’dmention how strange it is that when AIDS was rampant, nobody was wearing a mask, even though there is no cure and at the time, spread and cause was unknown. So why are we wearing masks for a flu? What did the Israelites do with lepers? They didn’t hide, or flee, they segregated the AFFLICTED person so the POPULACE wouldn’t suffer

Even if there were a freaking bubonic plague, Christians should still be out there caring for others and preaching the Gospel.

Stats are irrelevant.

Because Christians believe that even though humanity is 100% responsible for their choices, God is absolutely sovereign and in total control of everything, including evil rulers. God bends their hearts as He sees fit (Proverbs 21:1). Since we serve a God who is that powerful, we have no reason to fear. As Christians, we believe our bodies are a mere tent that will one day be rebuilt into a new body that lives forever (2 Corinthians 5:1). Why fear men when the worst thing they can do is kill us? We serve a Savior who rose from the dead, which is our proof that one day all who trust in Him will as well.

Sadly, there's a lot of #fakenews out there on what real Christianity is. Real Christianity is so much more interesting and powerful than the fluffy leftist version you often run into.

Fear is the opposite of faith. Christians are to live in faith, not fear.

How many times did Jesus say, “fear not”.

I can suggest some places to read if you want to know. Start with Psalm 91, then the end of John 16. Joshua 1. Psalm 3 , Proverbs 3, Psalm 56, Hebrews 13.

There's tons more. Get an app and search for "do not be afraid".

https://www.winknews.com/2020/09/23/cdc-shows-covid-19-has-high-survival-rate-doctor-still-wants-to-see-precautions-taken/

Read the Blessings and Curses from Deuteronomy and finally, with medical background, I will tell you that when you get into your 80s, you pretty much don't have an immune system any longer. Some do, but most do not. It just is. These are the people who have to be concerned with a Summer cold. They are not able to move as they used to and their lungs, because of that tend to fill up with bacterial pneumonia easily. Covid is a lie, it's about control not the sickness. Keep in mind, it miraculously 'cured' the flu.

I wonder if Christians who are afraid don't understand what it means to live in Covenant with God.

This article came through earlier: https://summit.news/2020/11/18/top-pathologist-claims-coronavirus-is-the-greatest-hoax-ever-perpetrated-on-an-unsuspecting-public/

I’ve been red pilling through a series of questions and simple math.

  1. How many people do you know that got Covid? (Say it’s 5).
  2. How many people do you know, Facebook etc. (let’s say 500)

Now just do the math. Average survival rate is 99.5 (higher but simple) meaning 5 in 1000 die. Based on math you have a 1% chance of catching Covid. So you have a .05/1000 chance of catching it let alone it killing you, or 5/100,000. More people die from bee stings or rogue staplers. Take off the mask.

Sir, I can only provide you with personal experience but I believe it is worth telling you. Personally, I don't know ANYONE that has been sick with it. Don't know anyone who has died from it. (My parents are in their 70's and are like, hey, if I get it, I get it. Not missing out on Family or Life because of it.) I also don't know anyone who KNOWS anyone that has been sick, hospitalized, or died from it. I DO know that approximately 10 people I know personally, have been tested...all negative results. I know of ONE positive result, and she was tested as a requirement for a hospital procedure prior to having it done. She had no idea she was even positive. ZERO symptoms. No fever, no loss of smell, not even a sniffle. So that is just my experience. And mind you, my family are members of American Legion and VFW and attend regular functions. So we see and meet a lot of people. My dad actually is Honor/Color Guard and provides Military Honors for deceased veterans and even with that, he has not encountered anyone who has passed away from it. But that is ONLY my (and my family's) personal knowledge with regard to this virus. Bless you sir.

If I may suggest:

Compare COVID to the Tuberculosis Pandemic which has been going on for decades with 10 million people sick each year and 1.4 million deaths annually.

https://www.tballiance.org/why-new-tb-drugs/global-pandemic

Maybe look at some other statistics, such as deaths related to heart disease.

That should start to show that COVID is less deadly than things that have been around for a long time that did not result in lockdowns, mask madness, toilet paper shortages, and mass panic.

Then pose the question: Where does that fear come from?

It comes from the world, who is blind without Christ, and it comes from the enemy, who wishes to deceive. Both have an agenda, and it is not to protect anyone.

With the deception outlined and the battle defined, spend some time on the Armor of God to fight it. Amazing how fear can dissipate once we are properly equipped to face it.

Some other thoughts on overarching themes: The garden and Job for deception and the attempted destruction of man-kind. I like Daniel 10 as an example of a very real spiritual war, as well as Paul's definition of the spiritual war in Ephesians 6. I also think the armor of God can be broken down to define not only its use in spiritual warfare, but how each also lends to replacing fear with peace as we trust in Jesus to win the war.

I know that's probably not what you were looking for, but I felt prompted to share. I'll be praying for your sermon, that God's will is spoken boldly in love.

It really depends on where you live. So if you're in a low risk area then you can honestly preach it's low risk. Where I live, we have recently had the highest infection rates in the world (yes, this is in part due to higher testing rates in the US, but in my particular community, I know a bunch of people who have had symptoms but never tested), and my personal experience is witness to this. I personally know two middle age pastors in my area who have died from it within the last three weeks. My daughter and a bunch of her friends have had it. Some of their families were hit worse than others. A few of our middle age friends have had it and some described it as the worst flu ever but others said it was like a cold. I know two nurses who are working in covid units here and one has been a nurse for 30 years and said it's like nothing she's ever seen.

This is just the reality in some places. Here is a link to a chart that shows the risk across the country: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7H10wZ4SszM. You can see that the risk is very low in many places. If you live in a high risk area, I think it would be irresponsible to deny the risk. I'm a devout Christian and I don't say that lightly. Our pastor has preached some beautiful things about spiritual preparation lately--about getting right with God, etc, and how to do it such as making time for regular prayer and Bible reading, for getting our priorities straight. If I was a pastor in a high risk area like mine, I might encourage the congregation to make freezer meals to give away to friends who become sick or to save if they themselves get sick. It's a simple thing that can be done to increase love and hope in a hard hit area.

Wow! I'm in northern MN too but not very rural. In my community for the most part it is mostly the medical professionals and some teachers and I guess some churches where people are worried. And liberals/Democrats. It is hard for us in the midwest, isn't it, since we all had to lock down back when it wasn't even affecting us. Now that it is, we are in the midst of covid fatigue.... I'll pray for you for your sermon this weekend, whatever route you take on this topic. Thank you for being a spiritual father!

Preach it Rev. You'd be suprised at howany Christians believe we're only supposed to be passive and forgiving. I believe there's something in Ecclesiasties about a time to kill. Additionally, The Bible is full of God sending His people to war. Would also love to watch your sermons. Linkage?

Brellin 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's worth pointing out that when bankers and other sorts were doing things wrong in the temples that Jesus was not passive about it. He literally went in, flipped tables, and whipped them right out of the temples and into the streets. Forgiveness is a big thing in the Bible, but being passive and accepting of evil never has been and never will be. I think it's past time that pastors started reminding people of that.
