Do it asap! They act as a good "Faraday Cage".

It will keep your phone from being track'able. Your phone cannot be actively tracked because they can't ping it in that cookie tin. Also, If you have your phone in airplane mode it is still track'able because your long and lat is still being recorded either via GPS or cell towers as it goes down the road. If not actively still. But not in that cookie tin.

Wrap it with a hand towel or thick wash rag. Your phone does not need to contact the cloud to transcribe speech into text. And it's really good at doing this. The objective is that when that phone gets connected again it won't have anything you said that can be uploaded. Text is very compressible and uploads in an instant.

There is also an accelerometer in that phone that can profile when you walk, when you go upstairs, and even when you plop your ass down to take a shit, or even when you screw your girlfriend if you only pull your pants to your knees.

Don't pull your phone out and use it near to any other 'partriots'. Their phone will automatically be tagged even if they just bought it.

I tested a lot of things to isolate my phone and even if you had the slightest gap your phone can be pinged. I'm talking a hairline gap. But those fucking metal cookie tins are pretty solid.
