Rupert Murdoch had a vision. An audiacous one. A counterbalance to the otherwise Liberal (and later Progressive) mainstream. Calling themselves fair and balanced was a bit disingenuous. They were never neutral and were as partisan butwere not without accomodation. The Shep Smiths and Chris Wallaces were a hat tip to this "bslance".

But they were a conservative outlet and appealed to that base. Throughout the years they were increasingly hates by the Left and supported to cable heights by their base.

Then old Rupert passed his legacy on to his Liberal family. There were a few signs things were going badly. A suspension of Judge Pirro and the hiring of bloody Donna Brazile notably.

The unapologetic early Arizona and Biden calls amoung other anti-viewer actions and then firing Judge Jeanie.

Now i hear Tucker waves Giuilani and Powell off as crackpots.

Their ratings are dropping like a brick.

Don't worry though because when the Fox viewers get over themselves and come back they will retain those viewers and pick up the moderate Liberal base like themselves and they can cater the show to skew closer to that new base.

But they had it figured wrong. Fox is forever Scarlet Lettered on the Left as being Far Right and Irredeemable. Also their old viewers are not coming back.

Lachlan will at first call the ratings and audience drop a result of post election exhaustion, then he will push harder to pick up that elusive base.

Realising belattesly his mistake, he will throw in good money after bad. He will not want to be shown as a fuck up as he was those years ago with One Tel.

Eventually he will either sell it off or have to manage a site that is barely a shadow of itself
