I am from the UK and I know we get a bad rep on here but honestly the nanny state govt used to be more "Please do this, be nice, don't make a fuss, there's a good chap". Not ideal but it was something we all just laughed at and proceeded to ignore.

Love the British people, have many friends over there, I think people are just stick of being told to be more like Europe.
