Class action.

57
indie_oompaloompa [S] 57 points ago +57 / -0

You know the process? does anyone know the process? HALP.

Edit 1: well yall a smart pede u/Knowmadicsoul provided insight below so i guess this is a silly unfounded idea. fek

Edit 2: We can keep the discussions and suggestions open though :P

Edit 3: It's wonderful to see so many frens who are ready to contribute to a lawsuit. Lets hold on to sentiment and keep funds aside for when a direct attack by Fake News Inc on TDW and its patriots occurs in the predictable future..

Sorry, but I think you might have misread. The information was made public here and then used by people on the deep web. It's not his fault, it's just what happened.

11
ShambolicPaul 11 points ago +11 / -0

That doesn't matter. Even if the information cost $1million that's still publicly available information.

10
50red 10 points ago +10 / -0

Something tells me, if the swamp gets their way, the information WILL cost $1 million in four years. The reason there's a price in the first place is to prevent public from seeing it.

I'll contribute to a class action. I have never broken any laws in my life, cyber or otherwise. Unlike crazy lefty rioters, I am able to follow society's rules.

They are jealous that .win is the news now

19
augustinius 19 points ago +19 / -0

They really are. Think about how many people stopped watching Fox because they followed the advice on here.

Expect the smear jobs and mud-slinging to continue.

9
shrimp-n-grits 9 points ago +9 / -0

That's all it is. They saw their ratings plummet and now they're lashing out, because that's all they can do.

I reacted to the headline too...but, after a cup of covfefe, I read the article and it's not saying TD.win is the cybercriminal forum. Raidforums is.

The data was allegedly purchased by someone on the website the "thedonald[.]win" and then posted for anyone to access on Raidforums, which Digital Shadows described as a popular cybercriminal forum.

Article goes on to say...

It is lawful to purchase voter data.

I think the point of the article is that, while it was legal to obtain the WI (and PA) registered voter lists, sharing the personal voter info which includes name, addresses, and DOB, on the internet puts voters on the list at risk.

“The leaked information has the potential to enable threat actors to launch malicious campaigns, including spearphishing or other types of social engineering attacks, spread disinformation to influence future elections, or create the appearance of voter fraud,”

And...

be used by criminals to personalize phishing emails or for stalking and harassment.

So, while we have a noble purpose for the data, the file, unintentionally I'm sure, ended up on a site with mal-intentioned folks.

ADDENDUM: Faux News is definitely trying to smear TD.win with their headline. I wouldn't be surprised if it's because we're crashing their ratings after their betrayal.

14
indie_oompaloompa [S] 14 points ago +15 / -1

heck, lets see what others say..

18
Trashaccount121 18 points ago +18 / -0

There's really no debate here. The person you replied to pretty much nailed it down.

You could maybe theoretically try to argue that there are damages to the datapede through implicit language? But since the article clearly states "purchasing data is legal", and the article headline is not factually nor textually inaccurate... Oh, and they'd have to prove someone tied their .win account to their public identity, and caused damage to them therein.

Sorry, really not seeing it. Raving about muh lawsuits! just reeks of Karen-ish frivolous lawsuits, particularly when the premise under which you would litigate is false.

11
Knowmadicsoul 11 points ago +11 / -0

That was my point. After reading the article, I don't think there's a case. However, that headline is definitely meant to smear TD.win.

5
Trashaccount121 5 points ago +5 / -0

Oh yeah, for sure. The sad thing is how it's so blatant in its framing. Journalists used to be more subtle in their propagandizing.

9
Knowmadicsoul 9 points ago +9 / -0

LOL!! Me? I never even heard of Raidforums until today. =D

I just want TD.win to be accurate, especially since we're getting so much visibility now.

5
DonewithMirrors 5 points ago +5 / -0

Thank you for the Smile,

I'm meant going to Fox :)

but on a serious side, the information posted is Greatly Appreciated.

7
Knowmadicsoul 7 points ago +7 / -0

I was a Fox News addict. Practically had it on 24/7. Recorded 5 shows.

Now F them!

Another Pede had posted a screenshot of the headline and I wanted to see what they had to say. IMHO They are intentionally trying to smear TD.win. I hope their ratings crash and burn.

I have issues with Elon simply because he went around with Amber Turd being all sneaky with that narcissistic insane woman. He has poor taste in women and I wouldn't dismiss that flaw. Am I wrong to judge?

But you need a person to be named in an allegation, and only then it becomes defamation? Lawyer pedes pls help out. Is there a case if bunch of anons are called criminals?

12
indie_oompaloompa [S] 12 points ago +12 / -0

Since u/bear__aware is an citizen who legally bought the data, his actual identity is saved during the buying of the data. Therefore he is not an anon when he made the transaction, only an anon on TDW. It all depend on whether he chooses to sue or not. We can fund his case or be witness or something idk, we need a lawyer now lol.

3
DeadOverRed 3 points ago +3 / -0

No, not much of a case. Because our group is so large and mostly anonymous, false accusations don't really implicate any one of us. The "intensity of the suspicion" isn't very strong. As long as Fox doesn't go after the individual, or give details that might lead readers to figure out who the individual is, there's not much of a case.

this is a meme based on a popular visual novel video game. It follows the antics of Phoenix Wright, a underdog defense attorney. Japanese art style, very cool.

Should also sue Digital Shadows, who made that bullshit claim.

I went to thier website this morning; they're a threat Intel firm that sells products to MSSP and cybersecurity consultants. Also of interest: they offer a "digital takedown " service.
