The press lives or dies by access. I remember in prior adminstrations the press would complain they would be denied access to the President and administration officials if they wrote an unfavorable story. We need to start doing that. Fox, CNN, and other MSM are in the front of the White House briefing room daily and Newsmax and OAN are in the back of the room on alternate days. This should be reversed. I know that the press core controls the press room seating but not the Rose Garden. Their control should be removed and the White house should pick in all situations. CNN can't be as abusive if they have to ask permission for entry. They are guests after all, not another branch of government. The best way to reduce their power is to pick favorites, negative reinforcement works over time. Keep moving CNN further and further out until they are reporting from a parking lot near the White House!

The press only has control of the White House briefing room for a long time, tradition. If it would not work politically to remove press control Trump could remodel in his 2nd term. The press room used to be FDRs indoor pool. Make a historic restoration, make it an indoor pool again, whatever. Create a new press room in the old executive office building, modern twice as big (use Trump's adjectives...) Gold trim if you like, but have the executive and only the executive control access.
