I just saw a new post about AirBnB, and how they are anti-American, installing social credit systems, etc.
Pedes need to see the big picture. Twitter, Uber, AirBnB, reddit, LinkedIn, github, etc. None of these companies make money. Instead, they have been designed by their VC investors to irreparably lose money over time. The goal of most Silicon Valley VCs is to get their startups to spend as much money as possible, so that they are dependent on more VC money in the future.
They take kids out of Harvard, MIT, and other top colleges who don't know any better, and saddle them with massive responsibility. It's a two for one deal - not only will there be fewer Aaron Swartzes, but these college kids are way easier to control. You ever wonder why Jack and Zuck look dead in the eyes? They've been fed bullshit their entire adult lives. They're smart enough to know it's not true, but they're in too deep.
Once these VCs have created massive user networks, they start looking for buyers. But they're not selling revenue and they're not selling potential, they're selling eyeballs. They're selling backdoors. They're selling telemetry. China is buying. Israel is buying. US intelligence services (via Microsoft, Google, et al) are buying.
None of these startups are real companies. None of them will ever be profitable. They will continue to hemorrhage because that's the only way they can be controlled.
While we're on the topic of "bankrupt, corrupt companies that somehow miraculously exist," lets look at newspapers and news stations. It's 2020; everyone knows advertising doesn't work. So then why advertise? Well, conveniently, it's the easiest way to launder money from the company you own (Proctor and Gamble for example) to the newspapers you also own, without obviously running afoul of antitrust or SEC laws. Its a way for you to make the news whatever you want the news to be. Some marketing slut takes 10% off the top, and the rest goes into the coffers of the media corpse you're keeping on life support.
It's all a racket. It's robber barons all the way down.
