It's generally better to have acknowledge partisans from each party to look out for the interests of the party -- which is why there are supposed to be poll watchers!!!!

If they are auditing the ballot envelopes and enough of them are missing or have errors then they know x number of ballots are not legal.
If they audit the ballots themselves then they can throw out specific ballots.
Best case is enough of the audit shows widespread fraud and they can't / won't certify the entire county and those are thrown out of the count and then Trump wins (along with John James) which then keeps the Senate in place.
Michigan is as crucial or in some respects MORE crucial than any other election or has the potential to be.
