How does Congress vote for president?

Australipede here, if Congress ends up voting for the President won't they screw GEOTUS over anyway?

Even if the RNC has the votes they'll install a CHY-NAH doll?

Congress only votes if no candidate can reach 270 Electoral votes that are fully certified and have been delivered via the electors.

Each state gets ONE vote that is based upon the makeup of their contingent of Representatives. So, California gets ONE vote. Rhode Island gets ONE vote.

Whoever gets 26 or more wins. Right NOW, there are 26 states that have a Republican majority in their roster of Representatives. If a state has 50/50 then they become an abstention I believe.
