If his attorneys have proof of fraud, and states certify the results, they are fucked for certifying fraudulent votes, it gets overturned and Trump wins. If they are running scared and keep punting by not certifying, then neither candidate gets 270 and it goes to the house and Trump wins. Not to be cliche but it's literally 4D chess.

They are definitely slow waking it in hopes of the other guy certifying first. If they can get ol’ Joe to 270 without everyone falling on the sword that would be their best case scenario.

January 6 is the day for the contingent election. And it is the newly elected House which will be sworn in January 4th.
People forget that the popular vote has almost no standing in who is President. It is more of a guide than a determination. State legislators and electors decide who the president is. And if they cannot, then the House of Representatives does it for them as they are the "voice of the people". The Senate gets to vote for the Vice-President.
There is only one candidate and Party following the Constitutional process in this election and it is not Biden and the Democrats. They are actually committing treason with every attempt to stop and interfere with the Constitutional process which INCLUDES a check by both the Legislative and Judicial Branches.
This is a purposeful and brilliant safety feature to prevent a Manchurian candidate from being installed by a foreign power. At the time of construction the foreign power of concern was Great Britain. Electoral college also has the added benefit of protecting minorities and requiring a broad/diverse coalition of citizen groups support in order to win legitimately. Take a guess who did that.

I thought 12/14 was too early too, but I don't find anything otherwise. The only reason to go to the contingent election is if nobody got 270 in the EC, right? It is my current understanding that our Courts cannot rule on the vote of electors, only the popular vote. Which would still give our Courts a deadline of 12/14 to straighten this out. How do you suggest it would happen otherwise?
No election has ever been decided by faithless electors. 2016 saw double digits which were unusually high at below 15, but they largely cancelled each other out, and were immaterial. So the popular vote of each State has determined the outcome thus far, since this process was enacted.
Supreme Court ruled on faithless electors earlier this year. They are required to vote as directed by legislature or get replaced.

The official swearing in of new members happens early Jan and then the new Congressional session opens. Jan 5 is the date of the Georgia Senate runoff, so Congress may have set Jan 6 for next session to do both House and Senate contingent elections at the same time.
But contingent election is not one and done. It goes on forever until one candidate gets 26 states to vote for him. Some states have split delegations. In the meantime VP is acting President. If neither selected, Speaker of House becomes acting President Jan 20 until one or both selected.
