So I upped it to 3k. He accepted. MAGA baby.

I’m not kidding.

Edit: to everyone worried about me getting paid: I’m not worried. These dudes are well off and we are all good friends. I even gave them the option to back out once we all agreed to it. They’re committed.

Edit 2: Actually let me tell you the funny part. The original bet was $1800 at 40:1. After we agreed I told them they had 12 hours to back out - no hard feelings. They laughed and said that I had 12 hours to double down so I said “Ok make it 3k.” It’s confirmed. Two guys are in the other side of my bet so it’s split between them.

Edit 3: black is me. Red is the facilitator. Blue and green are the guys I’m betting. This was all done over text.

Yes these guys do very well. And the bet was made with several witnesses who are mutual friends.

I think there's room to dispute the amount of the bet, considering that there are odds that are not 1:1.

The question becomes one of: "Who would be paid $3,000.00 if they won?" Would Honk4Trump be paid $3,000.00 if he won?

The following is an example of a bet of $3,000.00 with 40:1 odds:

  • Honk4Trump Wins: $75.00 x 40 = $3,000.00.
  • Honk4Trump Friend Wins: $75.00 x 1 = $75.00.

The following is ALSO an example of a bet of $3,000.00 with 40:1 odds:

  • Honk4Trump Wins: $3,000.00 x 40 = $120,000.00.
  • Honk4Trump Friend Wins: $3,000.00 x 1 = $3,000.00.

So, they need to make real sure they both agree on the amount of the bet.

Make sure it’s contracted as “Who is President January 21st” and not “who wins” because that guy is gonna fucking weasel out and not pay pretending Trump stole it or something

The question becomes one of: "Who would be paid $3,000.00 if they won?" Would Honk4Trump be paid $3,000.00 if he won? Or would the guy he's betting against be paid $3,000.00 if he won? It's a huge difference, and not something that's intuitively obvious to the casual observer.

The following is an example of a bet of $3,000.00 with 40:1 odds:

  • Honk4Trump Wins: $75.00 x 40 = $3,000.00.
  • Honk4Trump Friend Wins: $75.00 x 1 = $75.00.

  • Honk4Trump Friend Wins: $3,000.00 x 1 = $3,000.00.

So, you need to make real sure y'all both agree on the amount of the bet.

Option B

I believe you think it is Option B. My question is does the guy you're betting against understand it is Option B also. I'm thinking that he will try to back out if he loses. If you don't get it in writing, I'd wager you money he will back out of paying you $120,000.00.
