I’m visiting my grandparents who I barely see. They’re baby boomers who should naturally be conservative given the shit their generation has seen.

I can’t even mention trumps name without them completely ignoring me or walking away. I love them to death but my fucking god.

I’m sitting here hearing them complain about taxes, leftist takeover (LGBT acceptance overkill etc) all while I can’t even mention a positive about Trump without them thinking they’re right

I’m Australian by the way. My grandparents keep blaming him for Covid and I’m just lolling to myself.

Dear grandparents, I love you to death but fuck me your political opinions are skewed and wrong. I haven’t even been an adult for long and I feel like I am far more informed.

For my own non-American parents it was very easy to convince them that Trump was not responsible for Covid. Simply point to the fact that USA has a federal system and President has no say about how States handle a lot of things, including Covid response. And then point out that COVID is much better in red states than in blue states (use some simple graphs). Hopefully it will open up just enough doors in their mind to ask more questions.

Fellow Aussie here. Married and stay at home mum. I'm conservative, hubby is a libertarian. Both my family and my in laws hate President Trump when it is the Democratic states that are the problem. They also think Covid is real and will be lining up for the vaccine. I guess the oldies are done having kids so they don't mind the risk of sterilisation.

A guy I work with agrees with me on every single subject we talk about... but voted Biden. He doesn't understand, once the commies come for me, there will be no one left to speak for him.

Your grandparents are a great example of the generation that lost the west, it's up to us to take it back or when you're a grandparent all you'll be able to do is talk about how things used to be free. Look at them, love them, but don't be like them, they're pitiful and it's disturbing to see

The amount of shooting myself in the foot because my family pressured me to "make your grandmother happy"

Yeah you are more informed.

I hear ya, I keep trying to explain to my mum how it just isn’t at all realistic that Joe Biden got 78 million votes or whatever and all I get is “Orange Man bad” I go through previous election results to show how absurd it is and just “Orange man bad” sad to see her totally programmed.
