Fox calling us cyber-criminals means that Fox has learned nothing from the time they called Anonymous "Hackers on Steroids" and an "Internet Hate Machine".
The key sentences here are "against totalitarianism" and "Socialism, as I understand it".
His personal definition of Socialism was very different to that of his peers, and of those today - because it was anti-totalitarian. He was completely against tyranny. 1984 and Animal Farm are about the most effective attacks on 20th Century Socialism ever written.
If you've read any Orwell, you'll see that he loathed Communism and the Soviet Union, and the British Empire, yet was deeply patriotic to England itself. He was simply appalled at Imperialism and the state of the poor/working class at the time (what he saw as economic tyranny), and wanted to change the system to benefit them. But democratically, via debate.
He wasn't much different to us. He wanted out of foriegn occupations, loved his country, and wanted the common man to get a fair deal. He was just sentimentally attached to the label of Socialism for his personal vision, while simultaneously being the fiercest critic of every practical version of Socialism (as we know it today), at a time when that was a deeply unpopular take among his peers.
Remember, back then, the poor were living 5 to a room, working 60 hour weeks in a mine, and dying of malnutrition. It's a very different scenario than today where you can be poor, yet have a 4k TV and a Netflix subscription.
I'm pretty sure if Orwell were alive today to see how much poverty Capitalism has eliminated, he'd have an evolved view.
Regarding his fighting in the Spanish Civil war, Homage to Catalonia (his account) is essentially him admitting his naivety, the corruption and factionalisation of the left, and ends with having to flee from Communist attempts on his life after they purge the Marxist faction he was attached to.
There was no religious element either. The church was part of the military/fascist/monarchy faction (mainly as they were huge landowners) but that plays no real part in him opposing that side.
The Road to Wigan Pier's first half is an attack on the failures (at the time) of Capitalism, but the second half is a blistering takedown of the corruption, vanity, degeneracy, ignorance, and folly of your average Socialist, and explains why the poor and working class have no interest in Socialism as a philosophy as a result.
Orwell was a Socialist who hated other Socialists, and Socialist governments, and an anti-Capitalist who deeply loved his country despite his own criticism of it.
He's not a simple man to pin down on today's left/right spectrum, despite both claiming him. But his core values were hatred of oppression, love of country, duty to the less fortunate, and a desire for a fair society.
Excellent, excellent post. This man knows his Orwell.
And regarding this:
Regarding his fighting in the Spanish Civil war, Homage to Catalonia (his account) is essentially him admitting his naivety, the corruption and factionalisation of the left, and ends with having to flee from Communist attempts on his life after they purge the Marxist faction he was attached to.
Homage to Catalonia is a must-read for our times, I fear.
Supposedly if you read the article they were actually referencing a different website... but nobody read the article, just the out of context headline.
I think those forces almost end up the default in most systems. Responsible leadership can try to steer us away from them.
I wish we found a movement for local support because external influence seems to cause the majority of corruption, and I think people would speak more freely in closer-knit groups.
I agree. Centralized leadership also works in some of the same ways as foreign influence. People do not act as corrupt when responsible within small groups.
Not only does it not work(which is a moral crime in and of itself), it's also inherently immoral.
Democracy is the pretense that right and wrong can or should be decided by 50%+1. But that isn't how morality works, morality does not change because it is objective. Anything subjective cannot be moral by definition.
And from a philosophical perspective it's even worse. The big red pill is that voting is not the right of self determination that it has been posed as. Self determination is the result of the individual rights enshrined within the Constitution.
The right to vote is actually the privilege to determine the course of OTHERS.
And to be perfectly honest I think that less than 10% of the population is fit to actually do such a thing. Hell, half the population has a lower than 90 IQ, nevermind the moral perils of allowing the parasite class to vote the rest of us into slavery.
"A time of universal deceit" should be legally mandated to follow the year '2020' every time it is written in print book, magazines, newspapers, pamplets and all electronic media.
Yep. Lots of glares months ago when COVID hysteria was at its peak and when Alabama enacted its own mask mandate. Was told I was a racist and I would die when I protested the week it went into effect. At 5pm on the dot I was protesting (the time it went into effect).
All this mask wearing... I feel like the kid in the emperor’s new clothes. It doesn’t work people, there is no point in wearing them, you look like fools. It’s like everyone knows this deep inside but they don’t want to be the ones to break free from the pack.
That’s why I’m telling every person I can, that Trump will win.
They look at me like I’m a conspiracy theorist and say that a site devoted to the President is “biased”, but once they learn that everything I was saying is true, I’m hoping maybe just maybe they will open their eyes.
This place is a bastion of truth. Fuck everyone else.
I finished reading 1984 couple months ago. I got really depressed reading that book because I kept imagining myself living in that fictional world and also how wretched life must be for people living in it. Then I noticed our world is becoming more like 1984 with each passing day. There is no way in hell I will accept Socialist Totalitarian Regime. I will shoot my way out. Long Live The Liberty.!
It is a worldwide phenomenon. The entire world's "We The People" are standing behind trump and praying for his victory. Keep telling the truth to all so they too can join our cause and end tyrannical slavery.
For a second, I thought this was an idealistic post on some leftist Reddit.
Then I worried over why I was browsing reddit.. and then reality struck me.
Sometimes I forget where I am, and I think back to happier, more naive days.. reality is tough sometimes.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its savor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
All of us are the Patriots of a forgotten time. We may not share their blood but their message will always live in within us and our children. Let's not disappoint them.
I get a Catholic Journal from Bishop Barron's Word On Fire Institute. There is a terrific article about George Orwell in one of the editions. He was an atheist but included in the journal for his penchant for objective truth. It was not only in his writing, but he lived it. He allowed his life to take him where the truth led even if it was not profitable to do so.
It's a great statement, even though Orwell didn't write it (as already pointed out). But there are lots of others on his wikiquote page that you'll love.
One of his essays red-pilled me big time when I read it some years ago: "Notes on Nationalism" (1945), especially the section on "negative nationalism". It applies to the left even today. With a few minor changes, it could've been written yesterday. I was astonished!
It contains one of my all-time favorite quotes: "One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that: no ordinary man could be such a fool."
Easy now. You’ve seen what all the leftist pressure has done to white populations too - massive liberal bias in media/tech/education - and think about where whites would be if they started it 30 years earlier like LBJ did targeting blacks. They went from second rate citizens to primary targets for the Dem plantations. I’m not sure that skin color has anything to do with it, just exposure time.
I call bullshit. Having an honest and philosophically consistent conversation about race is difficult and requires significantly more reason and rationality than you are applying to it.
Firstly, it is wrong to judge an individual by their supposed group identity. That's what the leftist deconstructionist intersectionalist post-modern neo-marxist critical theorist trash does.
Secondly, the primary differentiating factor among groups is not race, it's intelligence and culture. Low intelligence can be mitigated by a culture of reason and rationality. Someone with a 150 IQ can operate on the level of someone with a 90 IQ, and vice versa. Training, education, and nurturing are of paramount importance.
"Black people" are like all other people who are victims of violence. Spread peace, end violence, and everyone is better for it. Stop it with this race-baiting bullshit.
All I’M saying is, this argument has nothing to do with Donald Trump’s presidency, and by posting this garbage you are only giving the left more ammunition to vilify the movement as racist. STFU
We are all Thought Criminals in here.
Lol... And cyber criminals.
Fox calling us cyber-criminals means that Fox has learned nothing from the time they called Anonymous "Hackers on Steroids" and an "Internet Hate Machine".
Fox is sticking to the NWO plan even as their Hindenburg begins to consume itself in a fiery spectacle.

Great analogy, we’re about to yank that mfr

In every single grand empire throughout history, the decay sets in when universal suffrage is implemented.
The closer you get to one pulse one vote, the worse things get. The empire usually dies within a century afterwards.
"Democracy" is the cancer.
Not only does it not work(which is a moral crime in and of itself), it's also inherently immoral.

Nah I'm just old. They actually gave classical educations way back when.
"A time of universal deceit" should be legally mandated to follow the year '2020' every time it is written in print book, magazines, newspapers, pamplets and all electronic media.
Dangerous but I'd rather die fighting for freedom instead of being afraid to love my country.

This book was so far ahead of its time, it's almost like Orwell himself was a time-traveler.

1984 is the most important book ever written, imo
Quote makes me want to almost cry. Ive never felt like anything was real like this is...
He didn't say that though
It's not a real quote. If you dispute this, find the source.
Across the world.

I've lost a lot of friends. Sad part is I appreciate them for who they are, but they hate me for voting trump.
Fuck yeah Ragnar

This is an amazing quote. Was it from a book of his? Essay?
No. It's a false quote. I did the deep dive
It is a worldwide phenomenon. The entire world's "We The People" are standing behind trump and praying for his victory. Keep telling the truth to all so they too can join our cause and end tyrannical slavery.
I'm reading 1984 now for the first time. It's beyond eerie the parallels that can be drawn to the modern left...
If you haven't gotten to part 2 yet, in it Winston reads a book. Read that part carefully.
For a second, I thought this was an idealistic post on some leftist Reddit.

Close, I heard the quote on an episode of Criminal Minds last night
