This is the problem with Lebanon. It was 60% Christian when carved out by the French as an enclave for the francophone Eastern Rite Catholics there- but was prevent from expelling those not fitting that description. Subsequently (& prior), the brightest and or most industrious Christians left for the West- in fact the majority of Lebanese Christians (see abazaid, mansoor, elway, flootie, haggar, fekkai, farr, issa, Nader, ghosn, abboud, Saab, Thomas, maloof, debakey, etc) live outside Lebanon. Then Israel pushed the Palestinians out into Lebanon (and poor Jordan) and the rest of the non-native human garbage from the rest of the Middle East, people like this guy’s family, MOVED into Lebanon and it’s been on & off civil war there since. ‘Pity the Nation’ indeed. TL:DR- guard your borders & demographics matter.
