I was riding in coach on a flight a few years ago, and Animal House was on the in-flight entertainment. I hadn't seen it in decades, so I started watching it.
I was in the aisle seat, and the plane was full, so there was a young lady maybe in her early twenties sitting in the center seat beside me.
I assumed all the raunchier parts would have been cut or edited out, but when it got to the scene where Bluto peeps through the sorority house window, it was uncut. That embarrassed me, so I quickly stopped the movie and watched something else.
At some point later in the flight I caught a bit of what the lady next to me was watching out of the corner of my eye, and it looked like straight-up soft porn like they used to run on Cinemax in the 1980s.
Good old Skinemax. Going to the blocked channels late at night waving an arm in the air with the feverish hope of seeing a nipple and maybe 2 boobies if only for a few seconds. The best of times.
The Washington Post is like the soldier in animal House telling the panicking crowd "remain calm! All is well!"
