We are definitely not in a great place with our gun laws and I would encourage you people in the US to NEVER allow your 2nd amendment to be infringed and if anything fight to have any infringements already enacted to be reversed... But we still do have guns in Oz just nowhere near the level we used to or you do.

The only real difference here is the licensing and firearm registration laws and some restrictions on what you can have.
Our ownership levels would be much less than the US however.
But its like anything, depends where you go... In the country pretty much everyone is armed and knows how to shoot.
