I like Louis CK's bit that went thusly (paraphrasing):

"Everyone wonders what happens after you die." (audience goes quiet, Louis gives a long pause for effect) "Well, the answer is.... LOTS of things! LOTS of things happen after you die, it's just that YOU'RE not part of it anymore!"
