It's the reason politics is a banned discussion in my home. It's not worth ruining the relationships with those closest to me. Our realities are too far apart at this point to even try to synchronize them, so I just don't see the point.
By blood. He’s my dad’s brother. He is still my favorite uncle and a lot of these discussions are all in good fun, but I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t bother me a bit that he’s so brainwashed. He is originally from Louisiana, but moved to Colorado years ago after he graduated med school. My dad always jokes saying, “he’s a monkey. He owns a Tesla, a million dollar house, and still supports the deep state? He sure knows how to live like a Republican.”
The biggest flaw in leftist thinking is they confuse equality with equity. Our society values equality, which means equal opportunity. Equity means equal outcomes, which is impossible to do and will destroy a society in the attempt to achieve it.
Destroy his way of thinking by challenging him to contribute to "equality". If he is so rich, he should share his wealth with an underprivileged person of color to achieve "equality". Unless he does that, he isn't serious about "equality".
Honestly, I think deep down he is a Republican, but in order to fit into his local community he needs to think like them. It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.
We have a cousin with 10 degrees that can't find a job that blocked everyone 4 years ago. Every family has one =(. I try to be the cool uncle in my immediate. Kids appreciate being able to talk about vidya games and also going fishing. Obviously I sprinkle some red pills and knowledge in when I can.
My 8 year old nephew was doing some BS common core "algebraic thinking" as a 2nd grader. I showed him how to solve it algebraically instead of imagining all the blocks and other noise. What took him 10 seconds of guessing/checking he can do in his head now or on paper.
Bonus spez: Oh and I told him we didn't have to read the Chinese story again about socialism and ugly vegetables. I'm pushing they start homeschooling.
Bonus BONUS Spez: Guess who just got called to fix a swingset. =S
He ran away, you won that. He only knows what is on the mainstream media, he clearly never bothered to look into anything himself so it will be a waste of time.
Don't destroy a relationship because he is ignorant.
Takes work, but you can redpill him over time by leading with examples of MAGA. People like that don't hear words well, but actions are stronger anyway.
Its crazy how much intolerance has been adopted as a result of mainstream media consumption. I'm the only Trump supporter on both sides of my family. I never had any issue sitting down with family members and having a meal, going to a ballgame, cooking out on holidays..... I personally never had a problem sitting down with Obama & Hillary supporters (some more avid than others) and having a pleasant experience. I usually avoided political discussion when it came up and would just let the family all agree with each other and move on. But once it got out that I was a Trump supporter, everything seemed to change. I get a lot of passive aggressiveness. Many cold shoulders. Don't really get invited to family events anymore. When I show up, some in my family completely ignore me. Its such a strange dynamic.
Your uncle is stupid for ignoring (willfully?) all the times Obama lied and lacked integrity. You think there is any honor and integrity in how Obama slanders the current President?
Sounds like perfect fireplace fodder for the elites to sit around, drink their high priced brandy and light their kid-made cigars they light with $1,000 bills
I've lost relationships with family members over this also. They have no idea that they're being poisoned by MSM and social media.
Its hard to unbrainwash people after they've been programmed by the media for several years/decades.
Very true.
Everyone has to clean up the mess inside their own heads themselves... nobody else can do it for them.
In the meantime, the old rule not to talk about politics or religion needs to make a comeback.
civil war almost finished ripping families apart

I hope he’s not uncle by blood but by marriage

He’s out because he knows his argument is crap. Honor in killing innocent people with drones.

Sure it’s not your aunt?
No he’s still my favorite uncle. Very disappointing to see this though. He’s a cool guy. Is a doctor and a snowboard instructor on the side.
He is. You’re right, but I think he has to be like this in order to fit into his local community. It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.

Sorry for your loss but your uncle is stupid.
Thats going to be one hell of a rough wake up call when the truth of it all comes to light.

Oh boy, he's going to have a rough few months....
