Given the circumstance where I am the only way Trump avoids being shot, I would definitely do whatever I could to ensure he walked unscathed.

There were a few precious years where we had global nuclear supremacy. Trying to be the good guys we didn't act on it and eradicated communism in the late forties. It was well meant, but in the proxy wars that followed, far more people died and suffered if we had just nuked them while we still could.
This gave rise to the CIA in 1947 and that ended badly.
